I’ve been absent for a while, so time to play catch-up. Let’s get started.
Our first story is far more violent than usual. I’m going to be quoting quite a bit of it.
Two men have been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old Berkeley County woman and stabbing and beating a 21-year-old man residing with her in a home invasion-style burglary on Aug. 10, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.
Steven James Taylor, 20, of 346 Roberts Drive, Apt. 3B, near Martinsburg, W.Va., and Darryl Lavar Ford, 30, of 910 Central Ave. in Martinsburg, each were arraigned Friday by Magistrate Joan V. Bragg on charges of burglary, abduction, malicious wounding and sexual assault.
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. W.A. Johnson said in an affidavit that the man was forced onto the floor, beaten with large objects, stomped on and stabbed in the shoulder blade.
“(His) injuries were so severe that the suspect’s sneaker emblem print, Nike Air, could be seen on his back and photographed,” Johnson said.
Tables, stereo equipment and other large items were smashed over the man’s back and head, Johnson said.
After reading that, all I can say is that I hope they get shanked in prison. Preferably after a few years of dropping the soap. So sue me. And of course, because you’re reading this here:
The men left the home with an Xbox 360, a video game system, multiple digital video disc movies, two mobile phones, all of the cash in the man’s wallet, the woman’s purse and cash, several hats and a Chihuahua, the family pet, according to Johnson’s affidavit.
Jesus. They took the Chihuahua?
Moving on. The next story involves some of the victims being beaten as well.
Police had a 22-year-old Windsor man in custody Sunday in one home invasion that involved four men coming into a home in the 400 block of Bruce Avenue Friday at about 10:30 p.m. Police are looking for the other suspects.
Const. Joe Baldwin said two young couples in the home were forced to the floor and had their hands and feet bound. The two men were beaten up and received minor facial injuries, he said. The women were not injured.
Apparently you need a lot of friends for home invasions nowadays. Anyway. At least these people had the decency not to harm the women, but that’s not saying too much. As for what they stole…
(Baldwin) said the men ransacked the apartment and stole a Nintendo game system and some money.
Yay for specifics. I wonder if it was a Wii or an 8-bit system. The world may never know.
The last story for the moment is also the shortest. Short enough that I’ll just quote the entire thing here.
Syracuse police today charged a city teenager with robbery, burglary and assault in a home invasion last December.
Louis M. Major, 18, of 104 Steuben St., Apt. 2, was charged with felony counts of robbery and burglary and a misdemeanor count of assault, accused of being one of four people who forced their way into a Peters Street home, according to police reports.
The group beat a 20-year-old man, threatened both him and his mother at knifepoint, and stole a list of items that included two video game players and a Marine Corps ring, police reports show.
Old enough to be tried as an adult. Bet he’s thrilled.
