Pat from BelchSpeak was kind enough to send me the FBI’s 2007 Internet Crime Report. You may notice some familiar themes in it. The phrase “wire the difference” keeps showing up in it which is one of the biggest scams on craigslist.
You’d think a lot of these scams would be common sense but if they were this site wouldn’t be in business and the FBI wouldn’t say that they received reports of people being defrauded out of $240M in 2007.
Give it a read, you might learn something. They are the FBI after all. I think they know a thing or two about scams.
And remember if you’ve been the victim of internet fraud you can report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center.
