Second B.C. baby offered for sale online:
In a copycat incident another B.C. baby has been put up for sale on craigslist. That must me be one really old baby. Most of them these days are A.D. babies. Just kidding. Of course I know that stands for British Columbia.
Last week the big story was of course the Vancouver man who was a “bit of a dick” put up his baby son for sale on craigslist as a joke.
Now someone from Saanich, B.C. has placed a similar ad.
“Only $10,000! Seriously – no joke,” the ad read. “A real human baby with ten fingers and 10 toes, not at all retarded. Get them while supplies last.”
Even though I was horribly wrong postulating that last week’s ad could have been real I’m confident in saying that this is obviously a joke. The B.C. authirities seem to be taking it way too seriously.
“It would be very disturbing if it was [a copy-cat incident],” Staff Sgt. Schenk said. “But the similarities are too close to be ignored. … There’s also the remote possibility that this could be legit, and we are taking this very seriously.”
While I do think it should be investigated in the off chance that this is serious. However I wonder if Sgt. Schenk was just saying this to appease the press.
If the ad is a hoax criminal mischief charges could be filed.
UPDATE: The ad is a hoax. There was no child in the home and according to the article the ip address was hijacked.
