Woman kills newborn, sets house on fire

Illinois Mother Charged in Drowning Death of Newborn Son:

23-year-old Cayla Wheeler of Westfield, Illinois has been arrested in the death of her newborn son among other things.

It’s alleged that Wheeler gave birth to the baby at home on July 2nd, drowned him, the hid the body in a hole in nearby woods. Then a week later she allegedly burned down the house that she and her husband lived in.

While investigating the fire, police learned Cayla Wheeler had recently been pregnant, wasn’t any longer but had no child with her, according to Ed Parkinson of the Illinois Appellate Prosecutors Office, which is handling the case because Clark County State’s Attorney Dennis Simonton has said he’s known the Wheeler family for years.

While searching the area during the fire investigation the baby’s body was found. An autopsy showed that baby had in fact been drowned.

According to the article it seems like the husband wasn’t aware of a lot of things.

No motive was given yet but I get the feeling maybe the baby wasn’t his.

Anybody else want to take some guesses at the motive?

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — A man attacked his girlfriend with a hatchet, struck her with a car when she tried to flee and then raped her during an eight-hour ordeal, police said.

Marlon Dandre Stringfellow, 40, of Merrillville was being held without bond Wednesday night in Lake County Jail on charges of attempted murder, rape, criminal confinement, battery, intimidation and sexual battery.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the woman left the home she shared with Stringfellow Monday night after he became agitated and when she returned, he ordered her out of her car and began hitting her. He then told her to get back into the car and drove to a church, where he ordered her to remove her clothes.

The woman got out of the car and complied, but Stringfellow allegedly took a hatchet from the car and struck her on the arms and legs. He then forced her back into the car and began driving, threatening her life.

The woman fled when Stringfellow stopped for a red light near a gas station, but Stringfellow allegedly hit her with the car while she was running, breaking four of her ribs, said Merrillville police Detective George Fields.

After dragging the woman back to the car, Stringfellow drove her home and raped her, Fields said.

Fields said the ordeal began about 11:30 p.m. and ended shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

After Stringfellow fell asleep, the woman got help and she was taken to a hospital for treatment where she received 50 stitches for her wounds, according to the affidavit.

Another article stated that the couple was drinking when Stringfellow became agitated. I get the feeling more than alcohol was involved. I wouldn’t be surprised if this cowardly scumbag had a past history of domestic violence or that a restraining order was invoked at some point in time.

He was charged with seven felonies so 7 points it is.

MOBILE, Ala. – Police believe a body found in a small-time evangelist’s home freezer is his wife and a mother of eight, and arrested him on a murder charge as he preached at a south Alabama church. Anthony Hopkins, 37, was being held in the Mobile County jail Wednesday awaiting a bond hearing and appointment of an attorney.

Police said no one reported 36-year-old Arletha Hopkins missing, even though she hadn’t been heard from in three years. The body was discovered covered in a freezer in a utility room during a police search of the home in Mobile after a relative of the preacher contacted police.

Mobile Police Chief Phillip Garrett said Hopkins was arrested Monday night at at a revival in Jackson, a town in rural Clarke County where he has roots. The pastor of Inspirational Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Beverly Jackson, told reporters that Hopkins told her he was a single parent because his wife had died in childbirth.

Garrett said Anthony Hopkins, the father of six of the eight children, has been charged with rape and sodomy in a separate case involving the female relative and could face more charges related to another relative.

Garrett said the Hopkins children were home-schooled. He said Hopkins “kept to himself,” and apparently moved from place to place. Neighbors called him “Rev.” because he attended church so often, loading the children into a van.

The fact that his name is Anthony Hopkins probably isn’t helping. I’m also curious to know what this sick son of a bitch told the children. Hell, for all I know they might have witnessed it. I wonder if he moved around with the body in tow as well.

One point for the murder, one point for hiding the body, another point for the rape, another point for the fact that it was a relative, another point for taking a mother away from 8 children, and one last point for daring to call yourself a man of God while committing such atrocities. That’s six.

Thirty-six passengers of a Greyhound bus travelling from Edmonton to Winnipeg Thursday night watched in horror as a fellow passenger stabbed another man sleeping next to him, eventually decapitating him and waving the man’s severed head.

“He didn’t do anything to provoke the guy. The guy just took a knife out and stabbed him, started stabbing him like crazy and cut his head off,” said Garnet Caton, 36, a passenger.

The bus made an emergency stop, and passengers fled in terror onto the Trans-Canada Highway while the bus’s driver and a driver of a nearby truck shut the crazed man inside the bus with the victim. Passengers say they stood outside the bus and watched through the window, horrified, as the man disfigured the victim’s body.

Caton and others said once they escaped, they prevented the attacker from getting off the bus by threatening him with makeshift weapons like a hammer and a metal bar.

Caton described the man who attacked the passenger as about six feet tall, 200 pounds, with a bald head and wearing sunglasses. He seemed oblivious to others when the stabbing occurred, said Caton.

Caton said the victim boarded in Edmonton, was aboriginal in appearance, was wearing hip-hop clothing, and appeared to be about 20 years of age.

Other passengers said that the two men were sitting in the rear of the bus and the stabbing victim was listening to music through his headphones. The attack appeared to be unprovoked.

At the time I’m writing this RCMP has not released the suspect’s name but I bet we’ll hear that he had a history of mental illness and was off his meds.

The latest in the disappearance of Caylee Marie Anthony

Who Are The Players in The Caylee Saga?:

Some new ‘mystery people’ have been introduced into the disappearance of Caylee Marie Anthony.

We already know about Zenaida Fernandez Gonzales, the alleged baby sitter of Caylee Marie. Now we have two more names to add the mystery list. Those names would be Jeff Hopkins and Juliet Lewis. Those people are the ones that Casey Anthony allegedly told about the disappearance of Caylee Marie. She allegedly worked with these people at Kodak/Universal.

WOFL have found a Hopkins family that know the Anthonys but were asked by the Anthonys not to say anything. Then Lee Anthony told them that Jeff Hopkins is from a different Hopkins family.

They have not been able to locate Juliet Lewis at all.

Police have not been able to locate Lewis or Zenaida Fernandez Gonzales. Is it coincidence that all these people can’t be located? I don’t believe in coincidence.

Photos Show Missing Florida Girl’s Mother Partying at Club:

Fox News claims that they have photos that show Casey Anthony partying at a club after Caylee’s disappearance, The photos can be viewed by clicking on the above link.

One of Casey Anthony’s attorneys, Micheal Walsh, disputes that the pictures were taken after Caylee’s disappearance. How many lawyers does she has anyway?

However as I posted before there have been witnesses that say Casey Anthony was partying like she didn’t have a care in the world during 4th of July weekend. That is while Caylee was missing.

The article also states that the FBI is considering taking over the investigation.

Grandmother: ‘I believe we’re going to find Caylee:

We haven’t talked about Grandma Cindy Anthony lately. She was on Larry King last night during her latest stop on her whirlwind press tour.

King: Why did you turn your daughter in?

Anthony: Well, a little background, Casey had gone on an extended trip, kind of trying to figure out — she’s 22. We were talking about when it might be the right time for her and Caylee to move out. Her trip just kept getting extended and extended, which was really not a red flag, I mean, the trip itself. There would be a few days at a time that she would go and stay with friends. She went from a couple different friends, and I never got a chance to speak with Caylee during that time.

She’s either lying or the dumbest woman in America. Do you know what a lot of 22-year-old women like to do? That would be partying. And I know some people are going to say “But she’s an adult what’s her mother supposed to do?” There comes a time as a parent even if your child is legally adult that you need to intervene when your kid is screwing their life up.

Here Cindy Anthony talks about the mysterious baby sitter…

Anthony: No, it’s not that type of kidnapping, sir. This person loves this girl and wants to have her as her own. That happens all the time. That happened not too long ago. In Orlando, Florida, someone stole the baby right out of a hospital.

Is it me or does Cindy Anthony seem to be citing a lot of ‘precedent’. It’s almost like she’s getting her explanations from Lifetime movies of the week.

Stolen gas cans may be linked to Caylee Anthony disappearance:

According to the article someone stole two cans of gasoline from George Anthony’s shed around the same time Caylee is believed to have disappeared. Combine that with the shovel that Casey Anthony borrowed from a neighbor and the dirt found in her car this is not looking too good for all involved.

Inmate’s ‘Ex-Boyfriend Has Missing Girl’ Story Can’t Be Verified:

An inmate in the same jail as Casey Anthony is making a claim that Anthony said that her ex-boyfriend has Caylee. 20-year-old Travis Nichols says he talked to Casey while they were in nearby holding cells.

“I asked her through a holding cell, ‘What’d you do with your baby?’” Nichols said. “She said, ‘I didn’t do nothing. My ex-boyfriend has her.’”

The Sheriff’s office believes that Nichols’ story is fake.

Nightsticks more harmful than Tasers

Police batons more dangerous than Tasers: Study:

A study in Calgary shows what I’ve always known. Nightsticks cause more injuries than Tasers.

According to the study Tasers were used in over half of all resisting arrest cases and only 1% of those zapped had to be hospitalized.

Nightsticks were used in only 6% of resisting arrest cases and 3% of those were hospitalized and 26% had to go to the ER.

The Taser hysteria is dealt another blow. If you want to avoid both don’t break the law. It’s not that hard.

Kids left home so mom could drink

Police say mother left children alone to go drinking:

Tiha Capri LeFevre of Midvale, Utah had hankerin’ to get her drink on. So she decided to leave her kids at home while she went out drinking. The kids are ages 8, 6, and 3 weeks. Neighbors called police when the 8-year-old went to a neighbor’s house for help for the baby. neighbors say that this wasn’t the first time. To make matters worse she never even told the kids she was leaving. When she returned home she blew a .235 making her the first inductee to the Bad Breeders BAC Hall of Shame. In Utah the legal limit is .08.

The unnamed dad is being investigated because he also left to go party with friends.

And people think there are only Mormons in Utah.

Australian foster child left to die

Court Hears Testimony in Case of Australian Youth Left to Die in Agony in Backyard:

Another thing that angers me to no end is when foster parents abuse the system at the expense of the children’s safety that they’re supposed to be protecting. I thought it was just a problem in the U.S. but apparently it infects Australia as well.

A 12-year-old girl was supposed to be under the care of sisters Toni Melville, 43, and Denise Reynolds, 42. The girl received some kind of leg injury at school while participating in sports which made the girl limp. Instead of seeking treatment for the girl Reynolds said it would get better with exercise and would hit the girl on the leg with a stick.

After a while the injury worsened and the girl was unable to walk. With no assistance from the two sisters the girl would soil herself where ever she happened to be laying at the time. The girl eventually collapsed in the back yard and died in the hospital later that night from a blood and bone infection. Doctors testified that if medical treatment was sought even up until the day she collapsed she probably would have survived.

Foster programs need to do a much better job of screening the people who want to be foster parents so they can weed out the ones who are only in it for the money.

Judge rules Randolph man’s murder confession admissible:

Jonathan Zarate’s videotaped confession to the killing of Jennifer Parks will be allowed into evidence. Superior Court Judge Salem Ahto ruled today that Zarate was not coerced into giving a confession and was read his Miranda rights six times which he gave consent for each.

Today (the 30th) is the third anniversary of Jennifer’s murder. Let’s get this trial started already and bring some much needed justice to the Parks family.

Chicago Cops Hunt Acid Attackers Who Burned Woman:

Esperanza Medina, 48, is in serious condition with burns over a quarter of her body after police said she was attacked on her way to work by two women with a caustic substance at around 6:45 a.m. on Monday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

“She has no hair,” her daughter Shirley Medina told MyFOXChicago.com. “Her whole face is burned.”

The woman’s boyfriend told MyFOXChicago.com that the substance melted Esperanza Medina’s clothing.

The victim had recently received threats and had her tires slashed, MyFOXChicago.com reports. She had recently moved to Chicago from Wyoming, Mich., the Tribune said.

Surveillance video showed the two women believed to have thrown the caustic substance, and a third suspect, a man, was seen running at the scene with a baseball bat, MyFOXChicago.com reports. He was recognized as a man who stole Esperanza Medina’s purse several weeks ago.

Acid? Really? And just exactly where does one get acid? The Acid Store? Bed, Acid, and Beyond? The Acme Acid catalog?

Is this what we’ve come to as a society? I know throwing acid on someone isn’t anything new but as far as cowardly acts go this one is definitely near the top.

One point for each coward involved in the attack, another point for the attack itself, and one last point for the level of brutality of the attack. That’s 5.
