Zarate trial part 2

Jury hears gruesome details of Randolph teen’s death:

Yesterday the jury in the Jonathan Zarate trial heard fom the medical examiner about Jennifer Park’s death. I’m going to let the article do the talking…

Randolph slay victim Jennifer Parks was savagely beaten in the face and struck so hard in the stomach that she instantly lost consciousness and choked on her own vomit and blood, a medical examiner testified today at the trial of accused killer Jonathan Zarate.

The girl’s face was severely discolored, battered and swollen. Jurors also heard that Zarate stabbed the girl and that she still was alive, but unconscious, when he started to cut off her right thigh so he could squeeze most of her body into a foot locker. He abandoned the thigh-cutting because it was too difficult and instead cut her legs off at the knees, according to his confession.

The jury also heard from Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. John Haviland who was the man who took Zarate’s confession. Again the article can do a better job than I can.

The sergeant said he asked Zarate if he felt sad about the killing.

Zarate’s answer was: “It wasn’t supposed to be like that but it is now in the past and there’s nothing I can do about it,” Haviland testified.

The Jury also heard the confession tape. Again to the article.

Later that day, a police officer and a neighbor asked him if he had seen Jennifer because “apparently she was missing,” he said. He told both of them he did not know where she was. He said he went to a party in Florham Park, and upon returning, asked his brother James, then 14, to go for a drive with him.

James noticed a foul smell.

“I told him, don’t worry about it. Just put the window down,” Zarate told Haviland.

The jury was also shown the metal pole used to beat Jennifer and the blood stained carpet she was killed on.

What really kills me about this case is that through past behavior you can tell that Zarate really thinks he’s going to get away with this. If he does I will have lost all faith in our legal system.

Wiener Sweater

This is my mother-in-law’s wiener dog Lola. She loves me.

She’s not too happy about the sweater though.

Teens catch teacher creeper

Cops: Teen boys pretend to be girl on MySpace, help catch teacher looking for date:

34-year-old Scott Eugene Dietlin was a teacher at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, California. He’s probably still be if it wasn’t for those meddling kids.

A bunch of 15-year-old boys created a fake profile of a 15-year-old girl named ‘Jackie’. Dietlin contacted the fake girl and the boys played along. Dietlin of course sent the prerequisite naked pics of himself to ‘Jackie’. The boys finally decided to getting around to calling police.

But here’s a puzzler for you. Is what the boys did any different than what Lori Drew did? Discuss.

‘Ghetto’ Facebook teacher might be fired

Two more CMS staff face firing over Facebook:

Previously I posted about a teacher in the Charlotte, NC school system who may be fired over a Facebook posting that said she “teach(es) chitlins in the ghetto of Charlotte.”

Now one school employee has been fired and another might be fired.

The one who was fired was an after school staffer who posted on his Facebook for listing “Chillin with my n—as”. The other teacher who might be fired posted that she’s “p—ed because I hate my students”. She’s a special ed teacher by the way. She’s been suspended and School Superintendent Peter Gorman is recommending that she be fired.

Now some people are up in arms saying that teachers deserve a private life. I agree, however if you make these opinions public you’re inviting trouble on yourself. If you and I were to post bad things about our jobs on Facebook and our bosses found out about them wouldn’t we be fired too?

Also teachers are held to a higher standard since they’re in charge of our children for most of the day.

Again I have to remind people that nothing is private on the internet.

Ghetto Chitlins teacher’s lawyer is defending his client by saying that she can’t be fired for telling the truth since the school is in a ghetto. Good luck with that.

Dog in the oven

Green Bay Woman Finds Dog Dead In Oven:

Reason to Blow Up the World

(WFRV) GREEN BAY, WI (WFRV) – A gruesome discovery leaves a Green Bay woman and her neighbors shaken.

Alex Rouse worshipped her five-month old Pekinese/poodle puppy named Hulk. “That dog meant everything to me,” Rouse said. “That dog went everywhere with me.”

But when Rouse and her friend came home to a smoky house, they couldn’t have imagined what they would find.

After ruling out a faulty furnace, they went to the hot oven, opened it and found Hulk dead inside.

Green Bay Police say someone broke into the house and committed this heinous act. It is not yet known if the dog was dead before being put into the oven or if he burned alive. Either way, this crime is being taken very seriously.

I can’t even imagine the horror that she had to face. If someone broke into my house and did this to one of my animals I would hunt them down personally like the coward deserves.

Five points.

Proof Of A Correlation Between MySpace Usage And Illiteracy:

This is an article from Silicon Alley Insider that tries to show that more MySpace users come from states with higher illiteracy rates.

I guess YouTube would show a correlation between its users and mental illness.

NY prosecutor cranks up the heat on craigslist drug sales

Top narcotics officers join N.Y. war vs. craigslist drug ads:

Special New York City narcotics prosecutor Bridget Brennan is trying to get prosecutors across the country to join her in getting craigslist to eliminate the ads that are for selling illegal drugs. This would be a move not unlike the Attorneys General who ganged up on craigslist to try and get them to limit the erotic services postings.

Ms. Brennan wrote a letter to craigslist almost two weeks ago and not surprisingly has received no response.

Palm Springs Police on prostitution

SPECIAL REPORT: Trumping Prostitution on the Popular Craigslist Site:

Just wanted to share with you this quote from Palm Springs, California police about craigslist’s new measures to limit activity on its erotic services section.

Police are optimistic this will help, but they say the only way to stop the abuse completely would be for Craigslist to stop allowing “erotic services” ads.

That’s not likely to happen.

It seems like I remember someone else saying that too.

Montrose slasher charged as an adult

Adult Charges for Boy Accused in School Stabbing:

The 14-year-old suspect accused of the Montrose High slashing has been charged as an adult. Michael Yates has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and two conspiracy charges.

Prosecutors still haven’t decided how they’re going to charge his 14-year-old co-conspirator yet.

Dillard High teacher cleared

Dillard Teacher Cleared, Will Return To Class:

The teacher from Dillard High who was thought to have prior knowledge of the gun used to kill Amanda Collette has been cleared by police and has returned to work.

It was thought that a student told the teacher about the gun Teah Wimberly used before she shot Amanda.
