Bad Mo. boyfriend beats 5-year-old to death

Missouri

Man Accused Of Killing 3-Year-Old Boy:

Reason to Blow Up the World

jbarkerPLEASANT HILL, Mo. — Prosecutors charged a 29-year-old man with second-degree murder in the death of a 3-year-old boy, according to court documents.

Javier Ruben Barker hit and kicked his girlfriend’s son in a Pleasant Hill home, and he died as a result of his injuries, according to court documents.

Dillon Bahorski’s injuries included severe brain trauma, a skull fracture and contusions to his body, according to court documents.

He also suffered significant bruising and swelling of the exterior sides of both ankles, according to court documents.

Pleasant Hill police were called to the home on Eagle Drive after the boy’s mother returned home from work, according to court documents.

The boy was found unresponsive on the floor of a bedroom and was rushed to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment, according to court documents.

The mother had left him and her 5-year-old child in Barker’s care while she worked overnight, and when she left for work at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, the boy was uninjured, according to court documents.

The 5-year-old told police he saw Barker step on his younger brother’s ankles and that Barker told him to go back into the living room and watch a movie that was playing, which he did, according to court documents.

The 5-year-old also told police that when Barker went back into the bedroom several times when his younger brother continued to scream and cry and he could hear Barker spanking his younger brother, according to court documents.

When the 5-year-old expressed concerned, Barker told him that he was not spanking the 3-year-old, according to court documents.

After Barker made several trips to the bedroom, the 5-year-old said his younger brother stopped crying and went to sleep, according to court documents.

Barker denied knowing about the 3-year-old’s injuries, according to court documents.

With all these baby killing boyfriends I wonder how long the women date these monsters before entrusting their child’s safety with them. I’m not blaming the mothers but there’s just way too many instances of these child killings happening.

One point for stepping on the kid’s ankles, another for the brain trauma, one more for the skull fracture, another for the contusions, one more point for the murder, and one last point for being an all around abusive fuck. That’s six.

Schallenberger trial delayed again

ammoniumnitrateTeen’s trial in school bomb case again delayed:

The trial for 18-year-old Ryan Schallenberger has been delayed once again. If you’ll recall Schallenberger was the teen who was allegedly plotting an attack on Chesterfield High School in South Carolina. The plot unraveled when his parents discovered a package of ammonium nitrate that was delivered to his house.

According to Schallenberger’s own journals he admired the Columbine killers and was jealous of all the ‘cool kids’. He also wanted to go to heaven after he committed his attack so he could kill Jesus.

The trial is being delayed once again at the request of the prosecution and the defense. The defense needs more time to confer with their client after months of psych evals requested by the prosecution.

Since Schallenberger received the ammonium nitrate through the mail this is being tried in Federal Court.

The trial is slated to start in March.

MyCrimeSpace 2008: The year that was

My boss at b5media, whom I greatly respect, has suggested that maybe a ‘best of 2008′ type post is in order. Unfortunately this site isn’t the kind that has ‘best of’ stories per se. However we did have two really huge stories this year that seemed to grab more attention than the others.

The first that leaps to mind is the disappearance and death of Brooke Bennett.

Brooke Bennett was a 12-year-old girl from Vermont who disappeared back in June. It was originally thought that she ran off with someone she met on MySpace. Unfortunately after her body was found it appeared that her sex offender uncle, Michael Jacques, had altered her MySpace to make it look like she ran away. It didn’t end there though because the case has had as many twist and turns as a roller coaster.

When Jacques first became a person of interest in the case he contacted Brooke’s ex-stepfather Ray Gagnon. Gagnon traveled from Texas, where he lived, to Vermont. While in Vermont he phoned home to Texas and asked his landlord to dispose of a computer that Gagnon owned. That computer is alleged to have a vast cache of child porn on it and has not been recovered. Gagnon has also been arrested for destruction of evidence.

The state of Vermont does not have the death penalty but the feds have taken charge in this case since using Brooke’s MySpace while committing a capital crime is technically crossing state lines where it then became a federal case making Jacques eligible for the death penalty.

The attention garnered by this story not only caused me to close down an epic thread because there were too many comments and caused me to open my message board again. Any details you may want to know about this case can be found at either of those two links.

The other big story of the year was the recorded beating of Victoria Lindsay. Back in April 16-year-old Lindsay of Polk County, Florida was lured to a friends house where she was beaten by several girls that she believed were her friends. The beating was recorded on one of the suspect’s cell phones. Originally it was thought that the assault was recorded in order to post to MySpace and YouTube in order to further humiliate the victim.

This was a case that was tailor made for the daytime TV talk shows. As a matter of fact it was so made for daytime TV that a staff member of the Dr. Phil Show bailed out one of the suspects. Allegedly that staff member did so without the permission of the show.

Since the original offense some of the suspects have been arrested again for other unrelated offenses. One of the suspect’s mother has even filed a lawsuit against police for allegedly acting inappropriately.

The most important thing in my opinion that has happened in 2008 is that there have been less stories reported about crimes as they relate to social networking sites. I hope that’s because of there have actually been less crimes and not just because the media is tired of reporting on them.

Here’s hoping that in 2009 you don’t find your name on these pages.

Violent drug lords hailed as heroes on MySpace

Outlaws honored on social Web sites:

Even people with a passing knowledge of crime news know about the brutality of drug related crimes in Mexico. Anyone, including police and military that stand up to the drug cartels end up dead or worse. If Mexico wasn’t so historically corrupt I’m sure it would be a daily feature at the News of Doom.

So much like American MySpaces that glorify serial killers and school shooters it should come as no surprise that there are Mexican MySpaces that glorify these murderous drug lords as folk heroes.

It really shows how impotent law enforcement in Mexico really is. Maybe if the country wasn’t so badly run they wouldn’t have so many people trying to escape.

Delaware County, Pa. task force joins MySpace

Detectives using MySpace to prowl for sex predators:

The Delaware County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Pennsylvania is yet another law enforcement agency that has created a MySpace profile in order to help kids stay safe.

Just like a lot of other agencies Delaware County created the MySpace profile to have kids add them as their friend in hopes to discourage sexual predators.

And also as usual the article I got the information from failed to provide a link to their MySpace so if anyone can find it please post it in the comments.

Anyway, Detective Lisa Carroll of the task force brought up a brilliant point…

“If there is unwanted contact, a lot of kids are reluctant to tell mom or dad because of fear of having the computer taken away,” said Carroll.

Det. Carroll and Detective Michele Deery are hoping that the Task Force’s MySpace will help alleviate that problem.

$200 to watch a football game

Internet ads lead to prostitution charges:

I like how the website listed this as breaking news. Prostitution in Myrtle Beach? I’m shocked.

Anyway, police in Myrtle Beach arrested Judith O’Neal, 44, and Jennifer Carper, 22, on charges of craigslist prostitution.

The best part is that O’Neal agreed over the phone to spend time with 3 gentlemen for $200 a person. When arrested at the hotel she claimed she was just there to watch a football game with three guys.

Carper on the other hand just had a knife and a crack pipe.

It’s good to see those new craigslist measures to stop illegal activity are working. And by working I mean not working at all.

Craigslist hold ups in Annapolis

Craigslist crooks pull three stickups:

Police in Annapolis, Md. have arrested a juvenile that was allegedly involved in a series of craigslist related robberies.

The alleged crooks would advertise too good to be true deals on craigslist and when the buyers would show up they would end up being robbed.

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for one Antonio E. Queen of Baltimore. He is still at large. A third suspect is also being sought but his identity has not been made public yet.

In one of the robberies the ad was for a gift card that was being ‘sold’ for substantially less than retail value. I never understood this one. If someone is selling a gift card on craigslist for less than retail it’s either a scam or it doesn’t exist.

Pittsburgh Care Home Workers Accused Of Elderly Assault:

Reason to Blow Up the World

PITTSBURGH — Five women were arrested and fired from an Allegheny County-run nursing home, accused of assaulting and verbally harassing a 94-year-old Alzheimer’s patient.

County police said the investigation began in November, based on reports from co-workers at Kane Glen Hazel on Rivermont Drive in Pittsburgh’s Glen Hazel neighborhood. The facility is one of four Kane Regional Centers throughout the county.

Charges of aggravated assault and neglect of a care dependent person were filed Wednesday against Danielle Taylor, 46, of the North Side area, Shelly Keene, 35, of West Mifflin, and Karen Perry, 46, of Homestead.

According to the police affidavit, one of the suspects allegedly struck the elderly resident, Thelma Bryant, in the head and hit her in the eye with a fist, cursed at her and threw an orange at her face.

Another suspect, Shalaya Hatten, 30, of Pittsburgh, was charged with simple assault and neglect of a care dependent person. According to a criminal complaint, Hatten was observed by a witness cursing at the victim and striking her with her elbow in the chest.

Three people said they witnessed Keene abusing the patient. One witness told police that Keene struck the victim in the forehead with her hand. Another witness reported seeing Keene stomp down hard on the victim’s feet a number of times. A third person told police they heard the victim say to Keene, “Stop hitting me.”

A fifth suspect, Mary Ann Bower, 57, of Munhall, was charged with summary harassment. The police criminal compliant was not immediately available in Bower’s case.

What in the hell is the deal with the orange? Anyway, maybe to you scumbags this woman was just another crazy patient but to someone else she’s a mother, a grandmother, part of someone’s family. Too many people work for nursing homes just as a job and not as a way of helping others. Unfortunately that’s a problem in a lot of service industries.

One point for each suspect (5), another point for punching a 94-year-old Alzheimer’s patient, one more for throwing an orange at her (WTF?), another for elbowing her in the chest, one more for stomping on her feet (what are you? 8?), and one last point for being in profession that you’re obviously not qualified for. That’s eleven.

Petaluma teacher pleads not guilty

Teacher pleads not guilty in MySpace messaging case:

I originally posted about Scott Dietlin here. He’s the teacher from Petaluma, California who was caught sending sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl named Jackie on MySpace. ‘Jackie’ was actually a group of kids who set up a fake profile but attracted Dietlin’s attention.

Tuesday Dietlin pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and is still being held on $700K bond.

He’s looking at 5 years behind bars.
