craigslist crime blotter 3/11/09

New focus on oldest profession:

Christina Tamburello of Providence, RI was arrested in Albany, NY on prostitution charges after police responded to her craigslist ad. She even had the disclaimer in her ad.

“Anything else that may occur is between consenting adults,” the 25-year-old blond-haired woman stated in her ad. She stipulated that once customers contact her by phone or e-mail, “you agree to these terms and hereby agree that you are not part of any agency using this advertisement for entrapment.”

Um….yeah. That doesn’t work.

Woman reports possible online stalker to police:

A woman from Myrtle Beach, SC reported that a possible stalker was posting things about her in the craigslist missed connections section. The alleged stalker posted details about seeing the woman at a WalMart and the clothes she was wearing at the time. Nothing like complete anonymity to bring out the lowlifes of the world.

Online posting: Baby for sale in Austin:

In what is obviously a prank someone in Austin, Texas has posted a baby for sale on craigslist. Why do I think it’s a prank?

The ad reads: “Since the economy crashed I’m afraid we either have to sell her or have her put down.”

Prank or not though even posting the ad is a crime.
