Megan Williams recants torture story, torturers don’t

Megan Williams to recant Logan County sex-torture testimony:

Back in 2007 I posted what in my opinion was one of the top 5 News of Doom stories of all time. It was the story of Megan Williams from West Virginia who was tortured and molested by a group of seven people that she was familiar with. One of which she was romantically involved in. The reason this made national headlines at the time was because Williams is black and her captors were white. However I never cared about the race angle just the justice angle.

The story seems straight out of some melodramatic TV legal show (Law & Order, I’m looking at you). It possibly seemed even too bizarre for TV. All seven of her captors pleaded guilty and were sent to jail.

Now two years later Megan Williams is saying that she made the whole thing up and is recanting her story. When I first read this last week I felt like a tool calling for the heads of her tormentors back when the story first broke. However the more I read the less I felt like a tool.

First off the prosecuting attorney, Brian Abraham, says that no one went to jail on Megan Williams testimony and like I mentioned all the suspects pleaded guilty.

Not good enough for you? Ok, how about the fact that one of the captors, Frankie Brewster, says from prison that it did happen…

“It did happen,” Brewster said during the interview at the Lakin Correctional Center, where she is serving 10 to 25 years. “All of us participated.”

Why is Williams recanting her story now? I have no clue. As was mentioned back at the time she is partially mentally handicapped. Not to mention that she doesn’t have the best support group whispering in her ear. May she just wants her ‘boyfriend’ Bobby Brewster back since he was also sent to prison for his role in the torture.

Who knows?

Monroe-Woodbury High Plot

Teen accused of plotting attack at Monroe-Woodbury on Columbine anniversary:

I’ve been sitting on this story for about a week because I thought they’d release the little punk’s name by now but they haven’t so I carry on.

Anyway, an unnamed 15-year-old male from Monroe, New York has been arrested on charges of plotting an attack against Monroe-Woodbury High School.

Guess when he planned the attack for. Yep, the usual. April 20th and for the usual reasons.

When police searched his home they found Molotov cocktails (pictured), a machete, and three propane tanks. And guess what, his parents had no idea what he was planning. This is starting to become so repetitious that these stories are starting to blend together in my head.

The motive is the usual too. He claims he was bullied (boo-hoo). He said the reason he was bullied was because he bears a resemblance to Columbine killer and scumbag coward Eric Harris. Considering they found a trench coat in the kids possession I wonder if that was what made people notice that he looked like Harris.

The kid is known to police since he was picked up in January on an unidentified charge.

Now here’s the best part. The kid actually hasn’t attended Monroe-Woodbury since 2008. Any rational person would have let go of whatever hatred he had for the previous school. Not this kid though.

Kids, there’s a lot worse things than bullying. Jail is one of them death is the other.

Woodward Couple Faces Child Sex Charges:

Reason to Blow Up the World…

A Woodward couple is accused of providing alcohol to minors and then filming the children participating in sex games.

Dean and Alisha Freerksen have been charged with rape, procuring a minor to participate in child porn, lewd molestation and furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor.

Woodward police say they have been working since July to put the case together and say more charges are possible. Police have identified seven victims, ranging from 11 to 17-years-old, and interviewed a possible eighth victim on Wednesday.

The accusations started when an 11-year-old told police she’d been given alcohol by the couple and then raped.

“During the investigation, the 11-year-old disclosed a camera that was used to take photographs,” said Woodward Police Sgt. Mike Morton.

Police searched the couple’s Woodward home and according to court documents, officers seized computers, hard drives, a camera and a sexual toy. What they found led them to other possible victims.

The DVDs gathered by investigators contain evidence, including hours of interviews of the children. Police say they were given alcohol and sex games were played.

“They would start a game they referred to as ‘sex dice.’ These items were also seized as evidence. These are dice you roll and they would have names as to what you would do that person,” Sgt. Morton said.

Police also say some of the crimes occurred at Dean Freerksen’s father’s house. Freerksen’s father said his son is innocent until proven guilty.

The couple has four children of their own but police say they are not victims.

They may not be victims of sexual assault but they are the victims of their parents’ actions. And I used the term parent in the loosest sense of the word. And how old are they that they have four kids already. Did he start knocking her up at 12?

Fake suicide on BlogTV leads to charges

Teen arrested in internet suicide hoax:

A 17-year-old boy from Clarence, New York is facing charges after he faked his own suicide on the steaming video site BlogTV.

The teen allegedly made it look like he was slicing his wrists open when in reality he was just applying ketchup to his wrists.

The act was seen worldwide which prompted calls to police from as far away as Israel. The ISP was able to help police track down the teen.

Again I have to remind parents that teens have no business having a webcam especially if you allow them to have their computers in their room. You can say you trust them as much as you want but sometimes kids need to be protected from themselves.

Guy with bizarre name accused of molesting boy from MySpace

Man accused of molesting Covina boy he met on MySpace:

47-year-old Achilles Dartgnan Corelleone, his parents obviously didn’t like him, is accused of molesting a 14-year-old boy from Covina, California that he met over MySpace.

Corelleone plied the boy with gifts in order to gain his confidence. He was arrested when he turned up at a park near the boy’s home.

Police in Covina believe that he may have had more than one victim.

I guess that little boys were his Achilles heel and that he made them an offer he couldn’t refuse however I think he might be getting a 3 Musketeers in prison.

Is this the first backpage murder?

Woman Arrested in Murder Case:

To my knowledge this is the first post I’ve made that links a murder to the Village Voice Media owned Backpage.com.

The body of Jiro Kanazawa was found in a Nashville motel. He allegedly responded to a backpage ‘escort’ ad placed by 21-year-old Courtney Hambric. Kanazawa was shot and killed after an alleged burglary attempt. Police in Nashville have arrested Hambric but police are looking for Harold Doss and Christopher Doss and a third unidentified man.

No matter what side you are on of a prostitution transaction you are taking your life in your hand.

In typical fashion I haven’t seen any comments from Village Voice Media. Nor have I seen the mainstream media coming down on backpage like they have on craigslist, not that craigslist doesn’t deserve it. Also no headlines decrying these suspects as The Backpage Killers.

 

Man who posed as girl on Facebook pleads guilty

Man posed as girl on Facebook to get nude pix of boys, feds allege:

I originally posted about Michael T. Cowley of Shawnee, Kansas here.

He posed as a 19-year-old girl named Ashley on Facebook in order to get explicit photos of underage boys.

This past week he pleaded guilty to chilld porn charges.

No word yet on whether or not he’s looking at a real sentence.

And I can’t stress this enough.  Parents, monitor your kids’ activities online. You are the best and last line of defense against online predators.

UPDATE: Cowley is looking at 15 to 30. Hopefully that’s closer to 30 than 15.

Do Dunbar Village rapists deserve a second chance?

Crime was horrific, but teens deserve second chance:

Check out this letter to the editor sent to the Sun Sentinel by a woman from Boca Raton who thinks the Dunbar Village rapists deserve a second chance because they’re only teens.

But as horrific as the crime was, how do we justify sending kids to die in prison without the possibility of parole — for a crime short of murder?

Let’s see. It may just be because they gang raped a mother, forced her to have sex with her own son and tried to set her on fire.

The penalty for this crime should be severe, but should we allow children to live and die in prison without an attempt at rehabilitation or a chance to somehow right their wrong?

How about yes since you can’t take back a gang rape and forced incest.

Naval recruiter sentenced in child prostitution sting

Naval recruiter sentenced to 15 years in sex sting:

Naval recruiter Shane Allan Childers, 32, was sentenced this past week in federal court for his part in a child prostitution sting.

Childers responded to a craigslist ad where someone was offering an 11-year-old girl for sex. Luckily the ad was actually placed by law enforcement.

Childers pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced to 15 years without parole.

Not a bad sentence but he’ll be out at the age of 47 and what do you think the odds will be then that he’ll re-offend?

Bartley plea appeal denied

TN Supreme Court says no to Campbell Co. school shooting appeal:

The Tennessee Supreme Court has declined to hear the appeal of Kenny Bartley. If you’ll recall Bartley opened fire in Campbell County High School in Tennessee. He ended up wounding two and killing Assistant Principal Ken Bruce.

Bartley entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to a very long stint in prison which didn’t sit well with a lot of teeth gnashers since Bartley was a juvenile at the time.

Bartley appealed his plea to the The Court of Criminal Appeals and they said the plea was valid.

Now the Tennessee Supreme Court said that they will not hear the appeal.

Meanwhile Ken Bruce has filed no appeals against his murder. Oh that’s right. He can’t. He’s dead.
