School sued for punishing teens over MySpace pix:
Sexy pics on MySpace spark lawsuit:
The ACLU has once again stuck their nose in where it doesn’t belong. They have filed a lawsuit on behalf of two sophomore girls who got in trouble at school for posting inappropriate pics on their MySpace.
The girls are student athletes from Churubusco High School in Indiana. Over the summer a sleepover was held where these two girls were photographed licking a penis shaped lollipop. The photos were posted to their private MySpace accounts but as you should know by now nothing is private on the internet.
As usual in these type of case the pictures didn’t stay private for long and they found their way to the principal of the school. The girls were suspended from athletic activities and had to apologize to the athletic staff of the school.
In Indiana there is the Indiana High School Athletic Association code of conduct which the student athletes have to adhere to. The ACLU contends that the girls’ punishments violated their right to free speech.
Again this is another MySpace lawsuit that shouldn’t be clogging the courts. This should have been stopped by their parents before it ever got to the desks of the ACLU. Too many parents of my generation treat their kids like the real world shouldn’t effect them. These girls need to realize that belonging to a school sports team isn’t a right but it’s a privilege and these parents need to realize that as well.
