Michigan state employee sentenced for MySpace ‘crime’

I originally posted about Jon Schneider here. He was the employee of the Michigan State Treasury who was using the state’s time and computer to have explicit conversations with underage girls on MySpace.

Back in January in a plea deal *spit* Schneider pleaded guilty to using the internet to commit a crime. What the hell kind of charge is that. He admits to using the internet to commit a crime but the crime he committed he gets no charge for? That’s bullshit of the highest degree.

Anyway, Schneider was sentenced to 6 months in jail and 5 years probation.

This won’t discourage him. He’ll be back creeping MySpace girls in no time.

Mich. man sentenced for MyYearbook child rape

32-year-old Roger Lee Babcock of Rockford, Michigan was recently sentenced for having sex (child rape) with a 14-year-old girl that he met over MyYearbook.

Babcock received a sentence of 10 to 15 years.

The victim originally said that she was 20 but eventually revealed to Babcock that she was 14. Apparently that wasn’t enough to stop Babcock from statutory raping her at a truck stop and photographing the activities as well.

The victim’s mother caught on to what was going on but not before Babcock had violated her daughter.

This is why you need to be on top of your kids’ internet activity all the time and not just when you think something may be wrong.

Craigslist pimp sentenced to year for hawking girlfriend:

26-year-old Phoenix Fox of Hayward, California was sentenced to one year in county jail and 80 days time served for pimping out his 20-year-old girlfriend on craigslist.

At the time of his March 2009 arrest Fox had not only his girlfriend but a 17-year-old girl in tow with him.

Again these sentences are ridiculous. If governments really wanted to put a stop to prostitution they’d give these traffickers real sentences no matter how little or how many people they were trafficking.

And when you name your son Phoenix Fox you’re pretty much guaranteeing that he’ll become a pimp.

The latest dumbfish to jump into NC’s boat

If you’ll recall not too long ago I started calling North Carolina sex offenders who get caught on social networking sites dumbfish because they can’t stay out of the nets of North Carolina investigators. It is against the law in North Carolina for a registered sex offender to be on a site like Facebook that allows minors as its users.

Anyway today’s dumbfish is 37-year-old Robert Milton Babson, Jr. of Statesville, NC. He was arrested after police received a tip that he had a Facebook profile.

Babson’s previous convictions that landed him on the registry were for taking indecent liberties with a child that he only got for years for and failing to register which he got two years for.

Here’s a thought North Carolina, why not keep them behind bars with real sentences and then you won’t have to worry about them being on Facebook.

I don’t trust Craigslist because there is no oversight – so many people have been killed or hurt or ripped off responding to CL postings. When you call the newspaper to place an ad, they ask questions before accepting your ad, which makes me feel like it’s a much safer way to conduct business. Of course, CL is free – but you get what you pay for – and there appears to be no one looking out for the integrity of the site. Thanks for all you do to inform the public of Craigslist crime.

22 arrested in Florida craigslist pedo sting

Sex Sting Nets 22 Arrests:

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested 22 people who thought they were meeting a 14-year-old for sex. Investigators responded to ads that people had posted looking for sex with children and posted some of their own as well. Two people that were arrested were a woman and her boyfriend.

Here’s the punchline. None of those arrested were on any kind of sex offender registry. I’m pretty sure they will be in the near future.

As usual while the article does not state it I can almost guaran-damn-tee that the ads were on the casual encounters section of craigslist. Since that section is still unmoderated by craigslist imagine how many predators are on there operating unchecked. Yet craigslist still refuses to anything about the casual encounters section like it’s some squeaky clean happy playground.

Ellis T. Jones III convicted of craigslist robberies

Ex-SJSU football player found guilty in Craigslist stun-gun robberies:

I’ve posted about Ellis T. Jones III before. He was arrested back in 2007 for using a stun gun in several craigslist related robberies and other non-craigslist related robberies.

The former San Jose State football player was convicted yesterday of said robberies and is looking at a max of 11 years behind bars.

Again when you have an unmoderated free classifieds site it will attract more than its fair share of criminals.

Ripper to front Dio Disciples

Previously I posted about how that Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens was going to record previously unrecorded material from the late metal god Ronnie James Dio. And I basically had a metalgasm when that was announced.

Now I’ve had another one on the news that Ripper will be fronting a band along with Rudy Sarzo, Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Scott Warren and additional vocalist Toby Jepson called Dio Disciples.

Commented Ronnie James Dio’s widow and manager Wendy: “There will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the DIO DISCIPLES.

Ronnie will never be able to be replaced but in my opinion Ripper is the next best thing and has kind of led a career in metal similar to Ronnie’s. Judas Priest was his Black Sabbath, Iced Earth was his Rainbow and Beyond Fear is his Dio.

Sports reporter turned pimp pleads guilty

Mass. jails NH sports reporter for prostitution:

I originally posted about Kevin Provencher here. He’s a former sports reporter from New Hampshire who was arrested back in 2009 for running a prostitution ring on craigslist and backpage.

This past Friday Provencher pleaded guilty to to two counts of deriving support from a prostitute, two counts of procuring a person into prostitution, two counts of solicitation for prostitution and one count of witness intimidation.

He’s only getting a mere 1 to 2 1/2 years behind bars. If the law really wanted to do something about prostitution and human trafficking scum like Provencher would get much larger sentences and so would the johns.

Review of Bitch Slap

With the bitter taste of Salt in my mouth, pun intended, I needed to see a movie that didn’t suck so bad. So once again I raided my brother’s Netflix queue and found this tasty morsel called Bitch Slap.

My brother called it a low budget Kill Bill so I went in with low expectations.

Basically the movie is a spoof/tribute to the exploitation movies of the 70s. Within the first 30 minutes of the movie I was like “What is this crap?” The scenes that were not taking place in the main location were obviously filmed in front of a green screen. I had seen YouTube videos with better production values.

However after the first 30 minutes this turned out to be a really fun cheesy popcorn film with boobs, chicks kissing, guns, and lots of violence. It even had the actors who portrayed the major characters in the Hercules/Xena series of the 90′s including Kevin Sorbo, Lucy Lawless, Renee O’Connor and Michael Hurst.

Plus how bad can a movie be when it has such great lines like “Ram this in your clambake bicthcakes.”
