I originally posted about Ruth Alvarez here. Last year Alvarez was arrested in Idaho for soliciting a 13-year-old boy for sex over MySpace. At the time of my first post I said that she was looking at 15 years but since she’s female she’d probably get much less than that. I was right.

She was sentenced to only 2 1/2 years and got out after 7 months this past week after completing a “rider program, where she received counseling and treatment”. That’s the politically correct term for saying she took some BS class for sex offenders to get out early.

Anyway, she’s back in jail after only 3 days of being released. Part of her probation was that she couldn’t be in a house with children which investigators say she violated.

While female online predators are rare they are no less dangerous than their male counterparts and should be treated as such. No more joke sentences or classes that they can fake their way through. Send them to jail and keep them there.

Watertown man accused of having sex with boy he met on Craigslist:

40-year-old Mark Barker and 31-year-old Joshua M. Lifton are both from Wattertown, New York. No word on if they actually knew each other but they’ve both been arrested for the same crime. They were both arrested in Philadelphia, New York for allegedly having sex with minors (child rape) that they met through craigslist. The victim in both cases was the same underage boy age 15.

Now some of you may say the boy holds some responsibility in this since he was on craigslist but those people are idiots. A 15-year-old in the state of New York can not legally consent to sex, especially the kind of sex that lurks on the casual encounters section of craigslist.

Also to parents out there no child has any business being on craigslist. Check their internet history to make sure they’re not susceptible to predators like this.

UPDATE: Make it three. 30-year-old Jason Harris of Antwerp, New York was arrested in Wattertown for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old boy he mt through craigslist.

This is a great piece from Sara Jean Green of the Seattle Times about a 16-year-old girl who they call Natalie who has been prostituted on the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com.

As I’m sure you know Seattle has had more than its share with underage girls being found trafficked on backpage. It’s gotten to the point where Seattle mayor Mike McGinn has gone after backpage and the Seattle Weekly to change their ways.

Back to the article though. Again this is one of those articles that really needs to be read in its entirety as one of my bad summations will not do it anywhere near the justice it deserves. However I will give you one quote to make sure that you will read the article…

She lost her virginity to an Everett pimp who raped her soon after she left home the first time. She never knew his name.

This is real people. This is actually happening. It’s not overblown as Village Voice Media would have you believe. Real children are being trafficked in the pages of Village Voice Media publications and backpage but nothing will change unless you take a stand.

West Palm man, 39, found guilty of sex with girl, 16:

39-year-old Larry Douglas Jones of West Palm Beach, Florida was found guilty last week of having sex (child rape) with a 16-year-old girl that he met on MySpace in 2008.

Being the predator that his is Jones posed as a 19-year-old boy and violated his victim over a number of weekends in the fall of 2008. He was busted when a friend of the victim’s discovered his true age by viewing an arrest warrant for Jones online.

What I want to know is how in the hell could he possibly get away with posing as 19. Not only does he look nowhere near 19 but you also need to know the way a 19-year-old would talk. One would think that you could either be taught by a 19-year-old or study 19-year-olds. Either way is creepy.

To make matters worse Jones got his victim pregnant. I can’t imagine the horror this girl’s mother must have gone through not to mention how the victim must feel.

Jones is looking at 15 years.

Let this post and the others serve as a warning to other parents out there. If you don’t check up on your kids’ online and cell phone activities they could have some lying rat faced creep climbing all over them.

Facebook ‘Friend’ charged with assaulting 2 teens at park:

The dude with the haircut that he should return to 1974 is 42-year-old Kevin P. Yorgey of Lititz, Pennsylvania. Not surprisingly he is said to have used the name ‘Wolfman’ on his Facebook.

With that Facebook police say he met two sisters, 11 and 14, and got them to meet him at a park. At this more than creepy liaison it’s alleged that Dr. Zaius touched the girls in a sexual manner. The Missing Link was eventually busted after the girls’ parents discovered explicit text messages on one of their daughters’ phones.

I wonder if I’ll get defenders leaving comments that the 11-year-old lied about her age.

The craigslist killing that isn’t

Woman, 24, Arrested In Craigslist Killing:

I’m sure my 5 readers are anxious for me to talk about the most recent murder that the Florida media has dubbed a ‘craigslist killing’ but I don’t think it is.

In Fruit Cove, Florida 24-year-old Latoya Jordan has been arrested for the stabbing murder of 53-year-old Daniel Somerson. Jordan is said to have met Somerson on craigslist. Investigators say that Jordan would use craigslist in order to find places to live where men would take care of her. Supposedly all the relationships she had with these men were strictly platonic. The thing is Jordan met and started living with Somerson two months before she allegedly murdered him. Police say that the murder happened over some type of dispute. In my opinion this is not a ‘craigslist killing’.

If you look through the annals of this site you’ll see that most of the killings connected with craigslist started out as robberies as shown by the murder of Julissa Brisman by Philip Markoff. Or they were just nuts and bent on killing like Michael John Anderson in the murder of Katherine Ann Olson. My point being is that in these cases craigslist was a direct instrument of the crime. While Mr. Somerson’s death is indeed tragic craigslist was only indirectly involved.

So bottom line, at least on this site, Latoya Jordan will not be considered among the scores of murderers here who are considered craigslist killers.

Mayor Mike McGinn lays the smackdown on Seattle Weekly

It seems that this past week Seattle mayor Mike McGinn appeared on a local radio show along with Seattle Weekly Editor-In-Chief Mike Seely over the prostitution ads in the Village Voice Media owned Weekly and backpage.com.

Mr. Seely had this to say about the Weekly and backpage defending their questionable business practice…

“Prostitution is the world’s oldest profession for a reason. If you’ve got Backpage.com cooperating with law enforcement, you’re a lot better off and the problem will get eradicated a lot more quickly.”

So basically he’s saying that backpage is doing the world a service by having pimps in traffickers all in one place. Never mind the fact that women and children are being trafficked on their site daily.

Mayor Mike McGinn fired back with some common sense…

“I don’t really think we’re in the business of trying to promote fencing operations for the sale of stolen goods so that it makes it easier to attract burglars, nor do I think we open up other kinds of illegal operations to attract criminals. Our duty is to work to stop” child prostitution, not draw pimps to a particular web site.

I tend to not vote for Democrats however if I lived in Seattle Mayor McGinn would have my vote.

Cops: Fla. teen told friend he would kill parents:

As I’m sure most of you know Tyler Hadley is accused of killing both of his parents with a hammer before holding a party that he posted the invite to on Facebook.

The article I linked to has a couple of more details. It seems that Hadley allegedly told his friend that not only did he steal his parents’ cell phones so they couldn’t call for help but he also spent 3 hours cleaning up the blood before having the party.

As I said in my previous post about Hadley only a grand jury can indict for first degree murder. This shows premeditation which I think will make the grand jury’s job easier.

Still waiting for someone from the kid criminal crowd to defend this punk.

UPDATE: It’s being reported by some outlets that Hadley killed his parents because they wouldn’t let him have the party in the first place. I don’t know how actually true that is but it wouldn’t surprise me.

$7M Wall Street prostitution ring busted

$7 million prostitution ring busted in New York City, police say:

Police bust prostitution ring catering to Wall Street:

In New York City the NYPD busted a major prostitution ring that involved an ‘escort service’ called High Class NY. Those indicted were Mikhail Yampolsky, his wife Bronislava Yampolsky, their son Alexander Yapolsky, a stepson Jonathan Yampolskaya, and two investors Efim Gorelik and Yakov Maystrovich. They’ve been charged with enterprise corruption, promoting prostitution, money laundering, and criminal sale of a controlled substance since they allegedly provided coke to their clients as well. Not surprisingly High Class NY is said to have advertised on both craigslist and backpage.

What does surprise me is that there hasn’t been a charge of human trafficking. Call me racist if you want but a ‘family’ with Eastern European names smacks of organized crime. Eastern European organized crime is infamous for human trafficking.

Apparently the reality of human trafficking is still not out there in America. If you click on the CNN article (top link) and check out the comments you’ll notice the plethora a of ignorant comments who still think that prostitution, no matter how much is being paid for it, is some glamorized profession that needs to be legalized and isn’t a real crime.

Pretty Woman was just a movie and things like that do not happen in real life.

Ex-pastor from Kentucky gets 17 1/2 years for using Facebook to spread child pornography:

I originally posted about Jerry Cannon here. He’s the former pastor from Kentucky who was caught trading child porn on Facebook. He was recently sentenced to 17 1/2 years behind bars however I think there is a larger issue at hand here.

First a little pretext. Cannon was busted with over 1000 child porn images some of which depicted children as young as 9 being raped. He used 13 different fake Facebook accounts to trade in child porn. He was obviously a master of his perverted craft.

However this story is a perfect example of a huge problem when it comes to pedophiles, family forgiveness.

Cannon also got support Tuesday from his younger brother and his wife, who testified they would stick by him. “I don’t think he’s a kingpin of porn or anything,“ brother Kerry Cannon told Granade. “I think he was just a dummy.“

No, he’s not just a dummy. Stealing from his former church would have been dumb. Cannon made a conscious choice to go onto the internet and create over a dozen fake accounts in order to trade in violent sexual images of young children. This isn’t just a mistake but a crime against humanity. Sickos like Cannon should not be taken lightly. Even though blood may be thicker than water I would bet that his ties to his child porn trading friends was thicker than blood.

If you have a pedophile in your family they are lost to you.
