Valpo High School slasher out of treatment seven years after attack:

It’s been four years since I last posted about James Lewerke and seven years since he committed his crime. For those of you who weren’t around here back then a then 15-year-old Lewerke attacked some of his classmates at Valparaiso High School in Indiana with a machete and a tree saw. In 2007 he pleaded guilty but insane and was sentenced to a mental facility in Iowa until he turned 21. Now, he’s been released from that facility and for once I’m ok with it.

Lewerke was one of the rare instances where I thought that the suspect in a school attack was actually mentally ill. Doctors testified that he thought God told him to make the attack. According to reports Lewerke has had no incidents while at the facility and that he’s sorry for what he did back in 2004.

Now he has 9 years of probation to fulfill. It sounds like that he has responded to his treatment very well. I wish nothing but the best for James and I hope he continues to thrive.

NC Sex Offender Gets Prison for Facebook Request:

As I have mentioned many times before it is illegal in the state of North Carolina for registered sex offenders to be on any social networking site. I’ve called these offenders that ignore the law dumbfish because it’s basically like a fish jumping into the boat.

Today we have such another dumbfish by the name of Victor Gaston. Gaston, 36, is from Reidsville, NC and spent a mere 2 years in jail for taking indecent liberties with a child. The law apparently did not stop Gaston from allegedly trying to friend his victim from that crime on Facebook. For his troubles Gaston was sent back to state prison for roughly 7 1/2 years.

I wish he had gotten more time for his crimes. Imagine the horror that the victim must have gone through again after receiving his friend request.

But as long as these sex offenders are going to be idiots like this NC is going to keep sending them to prison. Not for long enough though if you ask me.

Child molested by craigslist babysitter. Is anyone surprised?

Babysitter found on Craigslist charged with sexual assault:

Babysitter accused of sexually assaulting 6-year-old girl:

32-year-old Steven P. Knox of Webster, Texas advertised his services as a babysitter on craigslist. A woman from Clear Lake, Texas needed an overnight babysitter and used his services. So does it come as a shock to anybody that Knox is accused of molesting the woman’s 6-year-old daughter?

According to court records, a 6-year-old girl told investigators that Knox, whom she knew as her babysitter, put his finger in her private area four times. The girl said Knox had put “ice” on his finger and that the penetration had burned.

A sexual assault examination on June 24 at Texas Children’s Hospital showed that the girl had a 3-millimeter tear on her vagina, court records stated.

Why do I get the feeling it was Mineral Ice or Icy Hot or something like that?

When approached by KTRK from Houston Knox claims that he allegedly did not intentionally hurt the girl. He also claims that God talks to him.

Then when we asked Knox if he was sorry for what he did, he replied, “All I know is that God says I would be vindicated, and that I would come out on the clear on this.”

Knox went on to tell Eyewitness News that God speaks to him.

And to make matters even worse Knox is out on $30K bond right now.

But the question that begs to be asked is why in the hell would anyone get a babysitter off of craigslist let alone a 32-year-old man. There’s nothing about that sentence that doesn’t scream child molester.

Agents seek woman’s arrest in teen prostitution case:

Before we get into the heart of the article I want to address something. In the article I linked to it refers to the suspect in question as a ‘madam’. We need to stop using that term because it makes it sound like that women are somehow not as bad when it comes to turning out other women and children. We need to call them what they are and that’s pimps.

Anyway federal agents are searching the Michigan area for Satoria Youngblood. She’s been allegedly prostituting a 16-year-old girl on the Village Voice Media owned backpage in Southfield, Michigan. Investigators say she made the girl go on at least 300 ‘sex dates’. Again let’s call them what they really are, 300 child rapes.

Youngblood has also been charged with child pornography charges for allegedly taking explicit pictures of the girl to use on backpage.

What I’d like to know is why she wasn’t arrested at the time?

And a note to media outlets. If law enforcement are looking for a suspect a picture would be of great help. kthxbai.

And here again we have another one of those child pimps that Village Voice Media says is no big deal and that the victim probably volunteered to be raped over 300 times. The fact that more people aren’t upset about this sickens me.

DC Comics The New 52: Week 12

***THESE SHOULDN”T BE SPOILERS BY NOW BUT HERE’S YOUR WARNING ANYWAY***

First I want to address my counting system. Justice League #1 was released a week before any of the other New 52 titles were so I consider that as week 1 even though only one title was released and out of the normal publishing schedule.

Anyway this week was kind of lackluster again outside of Batman and Supergirl. Batman for the reasons I posted in my comic of the week post and Supergirl because it’s still the only Super title that still depicts Superman as the big blue boy scout.

I’m starting to dig Captain Atom as well especially since he’s the only surviving Charlton character that’s still treated with any respect. The Question? Dead. Blue Beetle? Dead. Peacemaker? Dead, I think. Nightshade? MIA.

Lastly in Red Hood and the Outlaws we find out that not only is Starfire a bimbo space slut she’s also a self-entitled bimbo space slut. She’s like the Paris Hilton of space. Again, I would have done things much differently with the Red Hood title. At least we found out the Arsenal did have some kind of connection with Green Arrow.

Nevada man sentenced for courting girl on Myspace:

Courting? Really? That’s the word you’re going to use. We’re talking about a sexual predator and you’re going to use courting in your headline? Wow, that’s just…wow.

Anyway 25-year-old Scott Vernon of Henderson, Nevada was sentenced to 14 years in the federal pen for soliciting sex from a 13-year-old girl on MySpace. I don’t know why I didn’t hear about this story earlier. I guess MySpace sex offenders aren’t in vogue with the media anymore.

Vernon posed as a 17-year-old on MySpace in order to groom this girl. Thankfully the girl’s mother caught on and called police. Police then posed as the girl and arrested Vernon at an arranged meeting.

Just because MySpace isn’t in fashion with teens anymore doesn’t mean that parents can let their guard down any more when it comes to predators on the internet.

Comic of Last Week: Batman #3

The problem with doing a weekly feature is that it doesn’t always get done on time. Sorry about that.

Anyway I wasn’t digging this storyline at first but now it’s starting to develop really well with the bats vs. owls theme. I hope this is an re-introduction for Owlman in the new DC Universe. James Woods’ role as Owlman in the DC Animated movie Crisis on Two Earths is still one of my favorite moments in animation.

Also good was Punisher #5. Like Daredevil, Marvel is keeping super villains to a minimum in this title as it should be.

Akron man, Stow teen in custody; FBI alleges Craigslist ads lured victims:

Family puts face on victim of craigslist plot:

We can add two more names to the ever-expanding list of craigslist killers. This time it’s 16-year-old Brogan Rafferty of Stow, Ohio and 52-year-old Richard Beasley of Akron. They’re accused of luring 51-year-old David Pauley to Ohio from Florida with the promise of employment at a ranch before robbing him and shooting him to death.

A South Carolina man was lured by the same promise but when the pair pulled a gun on him he fled after being shot in the arm. A woman from Massachusetts called police and said that the ad sounded a lot like the one her brother responded to and he had not been heard from in some time. Using cadaver dogs police were able to find Mr. Pauley buried in a shallow grave in Noble County, Ohio.

The motive behind both shootings was to get the victims to Ohio with all their possessions so they could be robbed.

I know we’re in tough economic times. Nobody knows that better than me since I’ve been unemployed for almost a year. However craigslist is filled with too many criminals to be trusted for legitimate employment opportunities. In hard economic times is when these criminals really relish in their illegal endeavors. At the least you can have your identity or money stolen. At worst you can lose your life like Mr. Pauley. It’s just not worth it.

I’ll post more details as they become available to me and as time allows.

UPDATE 11/25/2011: Sources told an Ohio TV station that Beasley wanted to steal the identities of his victims in order to stay out of jail on drug trafficking and prostitution charges.

UPDATE II 11/25/2011: Rafferty’s parents claim that Beasley threatened Rafferty’s family with violence if he did not comply with his scheme.

UPDATE III 11/25/2011: Rafferty’s mother says that Beasley was a family friend for 20 years who was a mentor for Rafferty. I’m sorry but as soon as a guy is charged with drug trafficking he’s no longer be my 16-year-old son’s mentor.

The Village Voice Is Getting Slammed For Promoting Sex Ads:

I originally posted about the November 16th protest at the Village Voice here. It was co-sponsored by the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women and Prostitution Research and Education and intended to protest the trafficking that takes place on backpage.com which is owned by the parent company of the Village Voice. Only 50 people showed up. That’s disappointing to me.

I guess too many people in New York City were too busy with the Occupy Wall Street movement to give a rat’s as about the children and women that are being trafficked on backpage. If you think about the OWS crowd is basically there to bemoan the fact that they don’t have a piece of the millionaires’ pie. They basically want free money. Instead they could have put their tent pitching asses to a good use by helping more people aware of the modern-day slavery that is taking place on backpage. Village Voice Media has a CEO and I would lay odds that he’s a millionaire and he’s making his money in way that in my opinion is much worse than the financiers on Wall Street.

It’s disgusting the amount of people who don’t care about the sexual slavery of women and children that is happening in this country.

Police: Pimp arrested for trafficking 14-year-old girl:

What a coincidence that my last post was about Phoenix. It seems that one of those backpage child traffickers that Village Voice Media says isn’t that big of a deal was recently arrested in Phoenix.

Police there arrested 32-year-old Al O’Neal for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old girl into prostitution and advertising her on the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com. A 15-year-old girl was also rescued.

28-year-old Tiffany Burt was also arrested for transporting the girl to Vegas.

According to the article right before his arrest O’Neal received the beating of a life time. I can only hope it was one of the girls’ family members.

But if you believe VVM these girls volunteered for being prostitutes and it’s a free speech issue.
