Backpage has killers too, this one happened in Minn.

Alberto Prece Palmer

Woodbury Man Arrested as Suspect in Brittany Clardy Murder Case:

Man arrested in death of St. Paul teen found in towed car was wanted in violent attacks:

18-year-old Brittany Clardy of St. Paul, Minnesota was reported missing on February 11th. Her body was found on February 21st inside of a car that had been towed from a Brooklyn Park apartment complex to a police impound lot. Investigators say that she was working as a prostitute that had been advertised on Backpage. Police now believe that they have captured her killer.

In March police arrested 23-year-old Alberto Prece Palmer who was staying at a residence in Woodbury, MN. Palmer also has warrants out for his arrest in Georgia where he had attacked other prostitutes from Backpage.

Alberto Prece Palmer, 23, is accused of putting the woman in a closet and raping and beating her. He then allegedly bound and gagged her, wrapped her in blankets and put her in a plastic storage container in her car. She reportedly escaped hours later, said Chamblee, Ga., police Sgt. Ernesto Ford.

So not only does Backpage have their hands in all sorts of sex trafficking of women and children but they also have their hand in a number of murders. Sadly Ms. Clardy is far from the first women to advertise on Backpage to be murdered. Yet Backpage will still insist that it’s their First Amendment right to not only advertise these women but to make a nice little profit off of them as well. It doesn’t matter how many children have been sold for sex, how many girls and women have been raped or how many have been killed. For Backpage it’s all about their bottom line. Apparently the First Amendment rights of Backpage are infinitely more important than the lives of the women and children that are advertised on their site. Again not enough people are outraged about Backpage and they should. I guess ‘Backpage Killer’ doesn’t have the same punch or alliteration as ‘Craigslist Killer’ for these stories to be national headlines.

Backpage child pimp had his name tattooed across girl’s eyelids

Roman Thomas III,

Roman Thomas III,

Police: Miami pimp forced teen to tattoo his name on her eyelids:

Earlier this month Miami police arrested Roman Thomas III for allegedly prostituting a 13-year-old girl on Backpage. Police say he did this while on probation for having sex (child rape) with a minor. Reports say that he was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his most recent arrest.

When the 13-year-old girl tried to leave Thomas he took her to a flea market and the phrase ‘Suave House’ tattooed across her eyelids. Suave is Thomas’ street name while house indicates that she is his ‘property’. Before I go on a lot of pimps have their victims tattooed as their property. If they’re not already any tattoo parlor caught doing this should be prosecuted as aiding and abetting. No legitimate tattoo parlor would ever tattoo a 13-year-old girl.

Police say that Thomas also supplied the girl with drugs and liquor and threatened her with violence in an incident where she was duct taped after some money went missing.

If you think that this isn’t typical behavior for pimp or trafficker you’d be wrong. In a lot of stories that I post the victims of these traffickers end up brutally beaten, maimed or worse. If you’re looking for somewhere to point the finger at I would suggest Backpage.com since they’re the ones who are not only allowing these underage and abused girls to be advertised on their site but they’re making money from it as well. They make money from every underage girl who is turned out on their site. They make money from the pimps and trafficking lowlifes that beat, rape and torture these girls if they don’t submit to their every whim. Is this the kind of business we want operating anywhere in the world? I sure as hell don’t and neither should you.

Investigators say they believe there are other young victims out there and have established a hotline. Anyone with information may call the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Human Trafficking Hotline at 305-350-5567.

Thanks to Adrianne for the tip.

Backpage child pimp busted. Yes, it was in Washington

backpage2

Man busted for selling minors as prostitutes on Backpage.com:

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY TRYING TO SELL GIRLS FOR SEX ON INTERNET:

The FBI recently arrested 22-year-old DeMarquez Xavier Austin, aka ‘Chaos’, for allegedly prostituting two girls, ages 15 and 16, on Backpage in King County, Washington.

According to reports Austin knew exactly what he was doing by turning out the girls. He allegedly said “he could get into serious trouble for pimping out a teenager.”

So if the FBI is on these cases why are these arrests hardly ever reported outside of the state of Washington? As I’ve mentioned before Washington has been very on the ball about trying to get Backpage to stop participating in sex trafficking trade so it would make sense that it would be reported in Washington. Yet rarely do we hear about these arrests in other parts of the country. These stories need to be heard. People need to know that child sexual slavery is going on in all parts of our country and Backpage needs to be held accountable for making it so easy.

Backpage child pimps busted but not in Washington

Dontavious Mingel Blake

Dontavious Mingel Blake

Couple used Backpage.com to pimp 15-year-old girl, say federal prosecutors:

Federal investigators recently arrested 32-year-old Dontavious Mingel Blake and 26-year-old Tara Jo Moore for allegedly prostituting several people in the Palm Beach County, Florida area including a 15-year-old girl. The 15-year-old was not only advertised on Backpage but she says that Blake and Moore continued to use her picture even after she stopped working for them. She should consider herself lucky because most pimps and traffickers don’t allow anyone to stop working for them. Blake and Moore are both looking at life sentences although I’ll believe that when I see it.

Now I would imagine that Florida has to be one of the biggest sex trafficking hotspots in the country. Between all the tourist attractions and the multitude of reasons there are for visiting Florida you would think that he would hear more of these stories out of the Sunshine State, yet we don’t.

The last Florida Backpage story I posted was in January but before that the most recent child prostitution arrest I posted about was in July of last year. Again, I doubt that child sex trafficking activity has curtailed in Florida and I doubt that Backpage is doing anything about it. Granted in this case Backpage did respond to FBI requests but obviously didn’t do anything to prevent the advertisement of an underage girl being sold for sex from appearing on their website.

It’s not just Florida though, this is happening all over the country yet it’s barely being reported anymore. Are these type of stories too depressing for readers so publications and media outlets don’t do them, or is it because rarely are the victims blonde girls from suburbia?

One child, any child regardless of race, religion or social status being trafficked for sex in this country is too many and the people need to be informed that it is going on in their backyards no matter where they live.

Tacoma man pimped out teen girl on Backpage for love

Love is blind and often brain-damaged.

Love is blind and often brain damaged.

Tacoma man, teen girlfriend charged with prostituting teen on Backpage:

21-year-old David Diaz of Tacoma, Washington and his 16-year-old *ugh* girlfriend were arrested by police in Lakewood, Wash. for allegedly prostituting another 16-year-old girl on Backpage. Diaz allegedly told police that he did it out of love.

The girl was allegedly turned out at least 75 times by Diaz and his squeeze. The girl knew Diaz’s girlfriend from school. The girlfriend allegedly recruited the girl for Diaz.

Diaz had only been dating the girl for two months and claims that she came up with the idea.

Diaz told police he met his girlfriend two months ago and she started talking about prostituting girls to make money. He claimed he was only paid $20 per “date” and his girlfriend gave him gas money for driving the victim to various motels.

“The defendant admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he tried to make (his girlfriend) happy because he loved her,” according to documents.

I remember being young and stupid thinking that I loved someone after an incredibly short period of time together. But no matter how stupid I was I would have never agreed to something as degrading as prostituting my girlfriend’s friend. What the hell are kids thinking these days?

Also this another story out of the Sea-Tac area. The only region where it seems these stories are being reported anymore. Ever since that Backpage allegedly split from Village Voice Media it seems like that we’ve gone back to square one in trying to raise awareness on how Backpage is making money off of the exploitation of these women and children. Where’s CNN? They seemed to be so hot on the topic when it was craigslist but now nothing? The same goes for 48 Hours when there was the ‘craigslist killer’ Philip Markoff. Yet nothing about an underage girl who was sold for sex 75 times. Sad.

Why haven’t we heard about Backpage lately?

backpage2

Man charged with prostituting minor on backpage.com:

Pierce Co. prosecutors: man pimped out two teenage girls:

Recently in Pierce County, Washington investigators there arrested 29-year-old Alfred Anthony Clark for allegedly prostituting two underage girls on Backpage. The girls are ages 16 and 17 and according to reports Clark promised the 16-year-old ‘nice things’ if she worked for him.

Sadly this is a typical story about Backpage and child sex trafficking but it’s been a while since I’ve posted a story about Backpage. Why is that? Has child sex trafficking on Backpage been curtailed? I doubt it. Backpage has implemented no new measures that I’m aware of and lawmakers have been stifled at every turn in trying to deal with Backpage. So why aren’t we hearing as many of these stories anymore? I think that it’s being under reported in the media. It’s really not surprising that this story came out of Washington State because it seems like anymore they’re the only market whose government and media are still interested in the plight of these kids. Mostly everywhere else it seems like that once Backpage ‘split’ from the Village Voice family of newspapers that the media thought “Well since they’re no longer a black eye against our industry we don’t care anymore.”

Not to mention that it was never front page news to begin with. As I’ve said in the past not enough people are outraged about this for these stories to be truly newsworthy. Outside of a number of anti-human trafficking activists no one really seems to care. As a society were to wrapped up in the latest celebrity or political gossip to give a damn about the multitudes of children that are sold for sex in this country every day.

But it only takes one person to start making a change. I implore you to be that person. Get involved. Tell a friend. Do something to make people more aware that slavery is still going on in our country today disguised as the adult section on Backpage.

Deangelo Jones convicted for trafficking 12-14-year-olds on Backpage

 Deangelo Jones

Deangelo Jones

Deangelo Jones, 20, Convicted Of Pimping Underaged Florida Girls On Backpage.com:

20-year-old Deangelo Jones was convicted last month for trafficking minors for sex on Backpage in the Fort Lauderdale area. The girls that Jones sold for sex were between the ages of 12-14. He had sex (child rape) with at least two of the girls he pimped including a 12-year-old girl. He also beat one girl in front of a room of strangers while she was naked because she tried to keep 20 bucks from him. Now tell me about consenting adults again.

Jones will be sentenced in February. No word on what his sentence would be but whatever it will be it won’t be enough.

Yet there is still no outrage about this except for a handful of people including myself. Why are issues of child sex trafficking not getting more media attention? Why is there not more people calling on Backpage to close the adult section of its site? Why aren’t people doing more about this? It’s not just an issue that’s happening in third-world countries. It’s happening here and now in the supposedly most advanced country in the nation. But instead most people are more concerned about what their favorite political party is doing or what happened on their trashy reality shows. Meanwhile while you’re getting fat and happy children all around the country from all races, creeds and backgrounds are being sold as sex slaves on a public website. I guess as long as it’s not happening to your kids it’s ok right? Stand up. Tell people. Spread the word that this is happening for real. Educate somebody, anybody to make them more aware of what’s going on.

I’m tired of preaching to the choir. Now it’s time to go forth and educate the ‘heathen’ masses. If someone brings up craigslist or Backpage in a conversation casually tell them that you do not use the site because of the women and children being sold into sexual slavery. Don’t take a holier than thou attitude just mention it to them and if they want to know more point them to my site or any other site that’s taken a stand against the icons of greed that are craigslist and backpage.

State of Washington forced to settle with Backpage

frank-palmer-washington-state-seal

State agrees to work to repeal law opposed by Backpage.com:

Earlier this year the state of Washington passed Senate Bill 6251 into law. In a nutshell the law required websites and publications doing business in the state of Washington to verify the ages of the women being advertised in ‘escort’ ads. Almost immediately Village Voice Media, which owned Backpage at the time, sued to have the law blocked. They won.

More recently a few weeks ago not only has Washington given up on SB 6251 but they’ve also agreed to pay Backpage $200K for legal fees. That’s not just a devastating loss for you know…freedom but it adds insult to injury to a state that is trying its best to stop online sex trafficking of women and children.

While Backpage continues to make money off the exploited women and children in the adult section of their site Attorney General Rob McKenna sums up what the stumbling block is in trying to deal with sites like Backpage…

“But unless Congress acts to revise the section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, an appeal will be extremely challenging and costly. It is unfortunate that because of this ruling, Backpage will continue to profit from sex ads for kids and others. Congress must revisit the CDA in order to close a loophole that allows companies such as Backpage to make millions advertising an illegal service that takes a particularly devastating toll on children,”

A man after my own heart. As I’m fond of saying the Communications Decency Act was signed into law in 1996. That was the infancy of a publicly available internet. Do you remember the internet from 1996? I wasn’t even on it yet but it dredges up memories of dial-up modems, AOL discs and Netscape. How much has the internet evolved in the past 16 years? Shouldn’t the CDA evolve along with it? And again what is more important, Backpage’s ‘right’ to make money from sexual slavery or the rights of the women and children on their pages not to be sold?

U.S. Senate passes Backpage resolution

us-senate

In other news this past week that probably almost everyone missed the U.S. Senate passed a resolution (S. Res. 439) calling for Village Voice Media to take down the adult section of Backpage.

While I appreciate the effort this shows me a couple of things. The first is that it’s obvious that congress is behind the times since Village Voice Media no longer owns Backpage. Backpage is now owned by the founders of Village Voice Media and supposedly no longer has any connection to the Village Voice family of newspapers. Secondly this resolution will be about as effective as a strongly worded letter from the U.N. to Iran, as in not effective at all. Backpage will continue to go on about how it’s their constitutional right to collect advertising money from pimps and traffickers in order to exploit women and children that are in sexual slavery.

There is something of actual use to come out of the resolution as it…

…supports the efforts of law enforcement agencies to provide training to law enforcement agents on how to identify victims of sex trafficking, investigate cases of sex trafficking, prosecute sex trafficking offenses and rescue victims of sex trafficking.

Again, the intention is there but the road to hell is paved with congressional resolutions. What we need are new laws. Laws that would not only make the risk greater than the reward for traffickers but for johns as well.

You can pass all the resolutions you want but until real laws with teeth are passed congress is just spinning it’s wheels.

Thanks to Dr. Jones for the tip.

9 arrested when 16-year-old girl sold for sex on Backpage

The siblings Tilden and Davall

9 charged locally in alleged sex trafficking of minor:

Troopers: 16-year-old girl forced to take drugs, have sex:

A few weeks ago in the Utica, New York area 9 people were arrested and charged in connection with a 16-year-old girl being sold for sex on Backpage.

The alleged ringleaders are the brother and sister team of 30-year-old Edward Tilden and 25-year-old Lynnette Tilden along with 23-year-old Alexandria Davall. 35-year-old Jakeem E. Penn Sr. was allegedly the cab driver who introduced the teen to the trio of trafficking. 61-year-old Curtis L. O’Dell was allegedly the driver who took the girl to ‘dates’.

As an aside that’s another thing I have a problem with. These aren’t dates. A date implies two consenting parties. These are just pre-paid rapes. But I digress.

Also arrested were Michael J. Olsen, David J. Jamrosz, Michael J. Curcio and Rosheen A. Brooks who were allegedly the johns. The girl was kept hooked on heroin and coke in order to keep working and the drug dealers were paid by being allowed to have sex with the girl. I’m sorry, I meant being allowed to rape the teen.

Still Backpage makes millions of dollars from the rapes of underage girls yet no one bats an eyelash against these stories. Instead they say the police should be focusing on ‘more important’ crimes. I’m sure the mother of that 16-year-old girl thought that the crime was plenty important.

Our society is doomed. Hopefully the Mayans will be right.
