Pellet gun wielding teen shot and killed by police in Texas middle school

Texas police kill 8th-grader carrying pellet gun:

Eighth Grader Shot By Cops Had Pellet Gun:

Parents of student killed by police say death was needless:

Yesterday police in Brownsville, Texas shot and killed 15-year-old Jamie Gonzalez in the halls of Cummings Middle School. Gonzalez was said to be brandishing a weapon at police and refused to relinquish the weapon. After the smoke cleared it turned out that the weapon in question was a pellet gun. While this is most certainly a tragic loss and it will hurt some people to hear this but police did their job.

The school called police reporting a student with a gun which sent the school into lockdown. According to reports Gonzalez pointed the weapon at officers and was given ample opportunity to relinquish the weapon. When he didn’t police had no choice but to shoot him.

People are already asking why police had to use lethal force. Take a look at the picture above. If someone drew that on you would you be able to tell if the gun was real or not? It looks pretty real to me. People will say why couldn’t the police have shot him in the arm or leg. To be blunt that is TV bullshit. In reality police are trained to aim at center mass to bring down an assailant. Even if they were able to shoot the suspect in the arm or leg that can still kill you if the bullet were to strike one of the major arteries.

The bigger question should be what was the gun doing in the school in the first place. The words gun and school haven’t gone together in a very long time whether it be pellet, nerf or even squirt.

If any of this sounds even remotely familiar to you it may be because it sounds almost identical to the story of Christopher Penley. In 2006 he tool a pellet gun to Milwee Middle School in Florida and used it to take another student hostage in the middle of class before also engaging police. The results were the same. Later on the shooting had been ruled lawful and lawsuits against police and the school were dismissed. What you may not know is that the officer who pulled the trigger was so devastated that he left the police force for good.

Do you really think that the two officers who shot Jamie Gonzalez took pleasure in doing what they had to do? I can guarantee you they did not. They did what they were trained to do. They assessed a threat and took appropriate action. I doubt these officers will ever be the same but no one really cares about that do they?

E.O. Green shooter sentenced

Brandon McInerney

California teen gets 21 years for killing gay student:

In 2008 a then 14-year-old Brandon McInerney shot a then 15-year-old Lawrence King in the back of the head within the halls of E.O. Green Junior High. King was an openly gay student who liked to wear women’s clothes. I’ve seen reports that say that King would mockingly hit on McInerney to combat the bullying from him. I’ve also read reports that said King had a crush on him. Neither of which are reasons for shooting another person in the back of the head at near point-blank rage.

Anyway today McInerney was sentenced to 21 years in prison after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors after a mistrial.

Now before you start twisting your pearls and blubber into your kleenex over McInerney let’s not forget that the punk was a white supremacist and obvious homophobe. He deserves more than 21 years if you ask me but it is what it is.

What really gets me about this story is the father of Lawrence King. He threw his son out of the house for being gay. Not only is he suing the school but he had this to say about his son at McInerney’s sentencing hearing…

“I will never forgive you for what you did,” she wrote. “You have left a big hole in my heart where Larry was.”

Considering his previous attitude towards his own son and the lawsuit I would say that the hole is more than likely in his wallet rather than his heart.

Central High shooter pleads guilty

Jamar Siler

School shooting victim’s family agreed to shooter’s plea deal:

It’s been an extremely long time since I posted about the 2008 shooting death of Ryan McDonald in the halls of Central High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. However it seems that this story has finally reached its conclusion.

It was in 2008 when a then 15-year-old Jamar Siler shot and killed 15-year-old Ryan McDonald. To this day I have not heard the motive behind the shooting. However I have seen reports that McDonald suffered from alopecia and was bullied by Siler. That’s right, the it’s the gunman who was believed to be the bully. Ryan was not afraid to defend himself though and that may have led to him being shot by Siler.

Fast forward to this week where Siler entered into a plea deal where by pleading guilty to the shooting he would be sentenced to 30 years with the possibility of parole in 20. Ryan’s family agreed to the plea deal.

As you can discern from this Siler was charged as an adult.

E.O. Green shooter takes plea

Brandon McInerney

Calif. teen faces 21 years in prison after guilty plea in killing of gay classmate:

After a mistrial 17-year-old Brandon McInerney has pleaded guilty to the 2008 shooting death of 15-year-old Lawrence King inside E.O. Green Junior High in Oxnard, California. By all reports McInerney was a white supremacist homophobe who felt threatened by the openly gay King. According to some reports that I have read McInerney was a bully to King but King fought back by making faux passes at McInerney.

According to terms of the plea deal McInerney will be sentenced to 21 years in prison as he was charged as an adult. So he’ll be 38 when he gets out and will be able to still lead somewhat of a life. Lawrence King doesn’t have that option anymore.

What really kills me is that Lawrence King’s father has the gall to make any sort of comments about the case.

“I don’t think that 21-year sentence is justice for my son, but I understand the reality that was facing the DA of trying to convict a defendant who was 14 … when he committed the murder,” Greg King said.

While I agree with him Mr. King kicked his son out of the house for being gay. Of course I guess he has to keep up appearances since he’s suing the school district for his son’s death. A son he basically disowned for being gay. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. King looked at the lawsuit as a way for his son to make up for being gay and murdered. Pathetic.

James Lewerke released

James Lewerke in 2005

Valpo High School slasher out of treatment seven years after attack:

It’s been four years since I last posted about James Lewerke and seven years since he committed his crime. For those of you who weren’t around here back then a then 15-year-old Lewerke attacked some of his classmates at Valparaiso High School in Indiana with a machete and a tree saw. In 2007 he pleaded guilty but insane and was sentenced to a mental facility in Iowa until he turned 21. Now, he’s been released from that facility and for once I’m ok with it.

Lewerke was one of the rare instances where I thought that the suspect in a school attack was actually mentally ill. Doctors testified that he thought God told him to make the attack. According to reports Lewerke has had no incidents while at the facility and that he’s sorry for what he did back in 2004.

Now he has 9 years of probation to fulfill. It sounds like that he has responded to his treatment very well. I wish nothing but the best for James and I hope he continues to thrive.

Deer Creek Middle shooter sent to psych hospital

Bruco Eastwood

School-shooting suspect sentenced to time served, will spend years in mental facility:

Not surprisingly Bruco Eastwood, the triggerman at 2010′s shooting at Deer Creek Middle School in Littleton, Colorado, has been ordered to the state psychiatric hospital in Pueblo.

By all reports Eastwood seemed sane at the hearing even going as far to apologize for his actions.

“Mea culpa,” he said in front of the packed courtroom. “I apologize on my behalf. The words can’t express how remorseful I am about my reactions to my mental illness. I am sorry.”

“I have lost a lot more than my dignity and respect. I have lost a lot of forgoing perspective into my life. I’ve lost everything,” he added.

Personally I have no doubt that Eastwood was in fact insane at the time of the shooting and I also had no problem that he was found not guilty by reason of insanity. What I do have a concern about, as I’ve mentioned before, if his treatment is successful and he’s released to the public is anyone going to be keeping track of him to make sure he’s maintaining his treatment? Or are we just delaying a repeat of his actions in a few years?

15-year-old girl shot at Cape Fear High School

Ta'von McLaurin

Charges filed in Cape Fear High shooting; victim in critical condition Tuesday:

2 teens arrested in school shooting at Cape Fear High in N.C.; Girl, 15, shot as she ate lunch:

15-year-old Catilyn Abercrombie was shot yesterday while eating lunch outside Cape Fear High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The bullet struck her in the neck and the bullet is lodged against her spine. She is currently in critical condition. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family.

Two suspects have been arrested in her shooting. The triggerman is said to be an unnamed 15-year-old who allegedly shot Catilyn with a .22 rifle. Also arrested was 18-year-old Ta’von McLaurin for aiding and abetting. Police say the pair were caught on camera going through the halls of the school with the .22 rifle.

Now granted that a .22 is not the largest rifle in the world but it’s still a rifle. How in the hell did no notice these cowards going through the halls of the school with a rifle until after the fact?

Catilyn is not believed to be the target and locals say that there has been a gang problem in the school.

Between gangs, bullying, violence and sex related crimes I think we’ll see the demise of public schools within a generation or two. When a school says they have a gang problem it’s a failure between the school, police and most importantly the parents for allowing this to happen.

No word yet on whether the juvenile will be charged as an adult but by all rights he should be.

I’ll post more as detail’s become available and time allows.

Thanks to my lovely and talented wife Jade for the tip.

UPDATE 10/31/2011: The alleged 15-year-old shooter has been named. He is said to be Charles Underwood Jr. No word yet on if he has been charged as an adult.

Hainstock’s conviction upheld again

Eric Hainstock

Appeals court: Hainstock conviction stands:

In 2006 a then 15-year-old Eric Hainstock shot and killed John Klang in the halls of Weston Schools where Klang was the principal. The usual excuses were given, he was bullied, he had a hard home life, etc. Hainstock has become a favorite of the peal-twisters since he was tried as an adult and sentenced to life in prison.

Hainstock had previously tried to get a new trial saying his counsel was ineffective but that appeal was denied.

Last week The Wisconsin Court of Appeals upheld Hainstock’s conviction once again denying him a new trial. This time it was argued that his confession should have been ruled inadmissible which the court agreed with. However the court also ruled that witness testimony would have been more than enough to convict Hainstock and send him to prison for life.

Now before everyone gets all weepy eyed over this punk spending his life in prison John Klang actually tried to help Hainstock with not only the alleged bullying but also with Hainstock’s home life. However he suspended Hainstock for being caught with cigarettes which was his job and Hainstock fires a number of bullets into him at almost point-blank range.

That’s not someone I want in my society.

Hainstock’s lawyer says he will appeal to the Wisconsin Supreme Court but I have to say what I always say in these cases.

John Klang doesn’t have the luxury of appealing his unwarranted death sentence.

Deer Creek Middle shooter not guilty by reason of insanity

Bruco Eastwood

Colo School Shooting Verdict: Not Guilty, Insanity:

Back in early 2010 batshit crazy rat bastard Bruco Eastwood shot two kids outside of Deer Creek Middle School in Littleton, Colorado. Yes that Littleton, Colorado. The victims have recovered but I’m sure they’re scarred in more ways than one from this.

Anyway this week Eastwood was found not guilty by being batshit crazy. I don’t have a problem with this verdict because I posted before about Eastwood’s mental problems which included such things as he was picking imaginary critters off of himself that he called transforming forces and that he heard voices from a Neilsen box on his TV.

What I do have a problem with is what’s happening to him after the verdict. According to the article he’ll probably spend less than 7 1/2 years in a mental facility. That’s just great. Let’s say that the treatment he receives there and actually makes him sane. What happens if he decides he doesn’t want to take his meds anymore? What if the imaginary critters and the voices come back?

What I’m saying is I have no problem with him getting treatment to make him better but just don’t turn him back out on the streets without any real supervision.

E.O. Green shooter to be retried

Brandon McInerney

Calif. teen to be retried in gay classmate killing:

Long story short if you’re new. In 2008 then 14-year-old Brandon McInerney shot and killed 15-year-old Lawrence King in the back of the head inside E.O. Green Junior High in Oxnard, California. King was openly gay and used that to his advantage to combat the bullying of McInerney. McInerney being a hate filled mental midget couldn’t handle being made to look foolish by a gay kid so he executed him.

McInerney’s trial resulted in a hung jury because some dumbass jurors wanted to convict him on voluntary manslaughter instead of murder. When someone is shot in the back of the head it’s murder. It’s not called execution style for no reason.

Anyway the little ball of pus will be retried except this time the charge of a hate crime is not being pursued. Hate crime charges are bullshit anyway. Every violent crime is a hate crime. They don’t deter hate crimes from happening. The only good thing about them is that they tack on additional years to sentences. That’s if the scum are convicted in the first place.

Hopefully the jury won’t be half filled with assclowns and will send this little ball of puke to prison where he belongs.
