I can’t do every craigslist creeper story anymore because there are just too many of them. Every once in a while though, it only takes a mugshot to make me stop and post one of those stories. For example take 51-year-old Jeff Beckman of Rosholt, Wisconsin. Have you ever heard the expression ‘don’t get your nose bent out of shape’? It looks like he did.
Anyway, Beckman has recently pleaded not guilty to child solicitation and child porn charges. Police in nearby Marathon County say that Beckman allegedly responded to a craigslist ad they placed posing as someone peddling children. They say that Beckman was willing to pay $60 to have sex with three children, ages 12, 14, and 15. Police later found child porn while searching his home.
Yet as a society we’re still apathetic towards getting craigslist to monitor their own yard. I wonder if the ad the police placed was even flagged by anyone on their local craigslist. Somehow I doubt that it was.
Former Elementary School Teacher Accused of Sending Inappropriate Messages to Student:
27-year-old Robert Walrath was a teacher at a school in Bartow, Florida. He was fired from his job after allegations that he was sexually harassing a student. He has since been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching the 5th grade girl and sending her sexually explicit messages on the smart phone messaging app Kik.
I’m not trying to blame the victim at all here but am I old-fashioned or is 5th grade too early for kids to have a smart phone? A cell phone maybe to call parents in cases of emergency but a smart phone? To me that just seems like it makes it easier for predators to contact younger and younger kids as what allegedly happened here.
This girl did the right thing by telling someone however if you want to prevent something like this from happening to your kids make sure you know what apps they have on their cell phones and if you don’t approve of them learn how to take them off and keep them off.
FBI: Man traveled to have sex with two girls:
The article I linked to is really short but how could I pass on that mugshot? Yeesh.
Anyway, 23-year-old Edward Vadney of Winter Haven, Florida, was arrested in Seminole County, Florida, after allegedly posting an ad on craigslist. The ad seemed to indicate that Vadney wanted to have sex with young children. Responding to the ad was a father of two, a 6-year-old and a 10-year-old. Vadney allegedly responded that he would only have sex with the children if it was ‘cool’ with their father.
Of course since you’re reading this here and it did take place in Florida the father turned out to be an FBI agent and Vadney was arrested.
No word on if he also planned on stealing the children’s souls.
Still, no one cares except me apparently that craigslist doesn’t monitor their own site for cretins like this even though they probably inhabit every section of the site.
Hicks and Martinez-Alcauter
Craigslist ads land 2 in jail for luring minors:
It seems that May is the month where craigslist creepers come into bloom in the state of Oregon. On the heels of the arrest of a craigslist creeper in Portland and the conviction of a craigslist rapist in Tigard we have new of two more men being arrested on craigslist related charges.
Back we go to Portland where 26-year-old Edgar Martinez-Alcauter and 38-year-old Jeffrey G. Hicks were arrested in separate incidents for allegedly attempting to lure children for sex through craigslist.
Martinez-Alcauter is said to have replied to an ad posted by police posing as a 16-year-old girl. He allegedly sent explicit photos of himself and when asked if he minded the girl’s age he is said to have replied ” I don’t care unless you do.”
In Hicks case he allegedly posted an ad looking for sex with a ‘young girl’. When police responded posing again as a 16-year-old girl Hicks was said to have replied about her age “I dont care about your age.”
I’m guessing they both care now.
Man charged with ‘luring a minor’ on Craigslist:
James C. Nickell
27-year-old James C. Nickell was arrested by police in Portland, Oregon, after allegedly posting a personal ad on craigslist that said he wanted to have sex with a “young TEEN.” Police posed as a 16-year-old boy and responded to the ad. Oregon age of consent is 18. They say that Nickell quickly responded back asking for “pictures and age.”
A meeting was set up at a fast food joint naturally and Nickell was arrested after leaving the restaurant upon noticing the ‘teen’ wasn’t there. When interviewed by police Nickell allegedly claimed that he thought that he was ‘role-playing’ with someone who was 18.
That may just be the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard given by one of these creepers. It’s even less believable than the ‘just hanging out’ line. That’s insulting to just about everyone’s intelligence.
Edison grad indicted by federal grand jury on child porn charge:
Sex-sting suspect admits watching molestation live on Internet, FBI says:
Zachary Perdue, age unknown, of Norwalk, Ohio, was recently indicted in a Florida courtroom on charges of child porn and attempted online child luring. Police say that Perdue allegedly placed an ad on the casual encounters section of craigslist looking for sex with a girl of any age. Perdue was in the Orlando area on a family vacation. No word on what family members were with him. I seriously hope it wasn’t his wife and kids.
Perdue did receive a response to his ad from a 14-year-old girl. After asking the girl for sex and sending her explicit pictures Perdue said that he wanted to meet the girl in a public place. He said he was concerned about being set up like in “To Catch A Predator”. Guess what. He was.
When he went to meet the girl at a Sanford, Florida, gas station he was instead met by the police. When police searched his phone they say that they found child porn and his phone of kids between the ages of 5 and 10. He also supposedly admitted to police that he had previously watched some guy molest the guy’s son over the internet.
I know I’m flogging a deceased equine here but some people would have you believe that assclowns like this are just innocent victims being set up by the money hungry police in Florida. And craigslist would have you believe their site doesn’t need moderation. Neither of those statements are true.
Sex offender arrested again for allegedly targeting kids:
33-year-old Frank Cunningham of Newmarket, Ontario, is a registered sex offender with a number of infractions to his name. In 2004 he was convicted of sexually assaulting a little girl and in 2005 was convicted for luring a child over the internet. Apparently Canadian prison agrees with him because he’s been arrested again, this time for allegedly trying to lure children through craigslist. The way he tried luring them is downright repugnant.
Police say that Cunningham posted an ad on craigslist looking to meet single mothers where he talked about cuddling up with the mothers to watch chick flicks. You can see a picture of the creepy ad he placed on craigslist in the linked article. However it’s not the mother’s he was really after, it was their children since he placed in the ad “put the age of your kid/kids” in the subject line.
Cunningham did get at least one response to his ad, the local police posing as a single mom. They had been tipped off that someone had been posting ads like this in order to gain access to the children. Police say that they also found child porn in Cunningham’s home. At this time they do not believe that any children were harmed this time by Cunningham. They are asking for anyone who has come into contact with Cunningham to call them.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7078. Anonymous tips can be left through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477, visiting 1800222tips.com, or texting YORK and your tip to CRIMES (274637).
Even still there are people who walk around with their heads in the clouds thinking that craigslist is still a safe place to meet someone. It doesn’t matter if you’re male, female, gay, straight, or whatever, craigslist is not the ideal place to meet someone new. The chances are too great they’ll turn out to be someone like this.
Milwaukee police nab convicted sex offender in online sting operation:
Dale Lamont Williams
Police in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, have arrested Dale Lamont Williams for allegedly soliciting a 15-year-old boy for sex through craigslist. Police there say that Williams posted an ad on craigslist looking for sex with someone young. When the 15-year-old asked Williams if he was ok with the boy’s age Williams was said to respond with…
“As long as you can carry yourself like an adult when you get here and the vibe is right. I’m cool.”
Williams then instructed the boy on how to get to his residence by bus. It’s always by bus with some creepers.
If you’ve been reading this site for any length of time you should know by now that the 15-year-old boy was actually a detective who is part of Wisconsin’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. It turns out that Williams is a registered sex offender who was wanted in Illinois for failure to register. Wow, another sex offender who re-offended. What are the odds? And he used craigslist too. This story seems so unlikely. Ok, that’s enough sarcasm for now.
It really should come as no surprise that a registered sex offender used craigslist to find his next victim. They know that craigslist itself does nothing to prevent these type of ads from being posted.
Douglas principal charged with attempted child sex released on $50,000 bond:
John Harold McGill
John Harold McGill is an elementary school principal in Georgia. I would imagine that the school district is trying to relieve him of that position since he was arrested in DeKalb County during a craigslist predator sting. McGill allegedly responded to an ad placed by investigators posing as a woman who was offering her teenage daughter for sex. McGill allegedly responded by saying that “he has taught other girls and he would go slow.”
A statement like that would lead me to believe that this isn’t McGill’s first dalliance into underage girls, only the first time he’s been caught. McGill’s lawyer is arguing that his client didn’t do anything wrong because of the wording of the arrest warrant.
“There’s no mention of the (girl’s) age in that warrant,” Pilgrim said. “The warrant said ‘teenage daughter.’ That could mean 16 or 18. The evidence is different than the warrant.”
I’m sure the investigators have enough documentation saying what age the purported teenage girl was and I get the feeling it was under the legal age of consent. I don’t think that McGill would be into ‘teaching’ 18-year-olds.
McGill is also out on $50,000 bond.
If McGill had ‘taught’ other girls I wonder how many of them were from craigslist. If you think no real parent would actually turn out their kid on craigslist like this you’d be very sadly mistaken. It’s real, it does happen and craigslist does nothing to stop it.
Billings man charged with raping two girls:
Ronald Curtis Brown
I have to give the news station credit for using the word rape in the headline. It may be statutory rape but it’s still rape nonetheless, but I’m getting a head of myself.
29-year-old Ronald Curtis Brown of Billings, Montana is accused of using social site MeetMe to have sex with at least two underage girls. Police say that Brown’s MeetMe profile listed his age as anywhere between 13 and 16. I’m not exactly sure how he pulled off that cunning ruse.
One of his victims is 14 and police say that he would pick her up at school during lunch so they could have sex. That’s not creepy in the least. It’s also being said that she was aware of Brown’s true age. Police were led to Brown when the girl’s mother found messages from Brown on the girl’s iPod Touch. His second victim is 15 and they allegedly had sex at Brown’s home while Brown’s 3-year-old daughter was in the next room. To top it all off police caught up to him by posing as a 13-year-old girl on Kik. So no using the ‘she said she was 18′ defense here. Although at the time of his arrest police say he tried using the ‘I was hacked’ excuse which really doesn’t work when the police know the exact time and location you’re supposed to meet someone from the ‘hacked’ messages.
Montana prosecutors aren’t fooling around though as they’ve charged Brown with 13 felony counts of sexual abuse of children and sexual intercourse without consent and are holding him on $200,000 bond. That’s much better than the usual slap on the wrists we’ve seen on some suspects.
