Mack and Onysko
Human trafficking charges: Jeremy Mack, Ashley Onysk accused of forcing teens to have sex for money:
Teenage girls were “virtual prisoners” in Elyria house; man charged with forcing victims into drugs, prostitution:
The people with the oh so classy tattoos up there are 37-year-old Jeremy Mack of Elyria, Ohio and 23-year-old Ashley Onysko of Avon Lake, Ohio. The pair are facing federal charges of human trafficking after being arrested in April in Elyria. One of the girls they allegedly turned out was a 16-year-old girl. Police say that Mack would get the girls and women hooked on drugs then make them work as prostitutes to pay off their drug debts. A 19-year-old said that she witnessed Mack choking and assaulting some of his victims. None of the victims were allowed to leave the house, had their cell phones taken away and were routinely strip searched when drugs went missing. Like Ohio needs anymore houses where women are being held captive. Onysko was allegedly the one who would recruit their victims. The victims were being advertised on both craigslist (hey, didn’t they clean that up?) and Backpage.
The hobbyists, aka johns, would have you believe that prostitution is a rainbow and unicorn filled word rife with consenting adults. In a harsh reality consent is more the exception than the rule.
Nahshon Kornegay sentenced to 10 years for pimping in Rockville:
Nahshon Kornegay of District Heights, Maryland was recently sentenced to 10 1/2 years for prostituting two women in Rockville, Maryland. He had advertised them on Backpage of course.
Kornegay was convicted back in January and argued that the women chose to work for him and that there are no victims even though Kornegay used threats of violence to keep the women working for him. Thankfully the judge and jury disagreed. As a matter of fact the prosecution stated that Kornegay continued to prostitute women even from behind bars including the mother of his child. Stay classy.
Which just goes to show you that these pimps and traffickers obviously only care about making the money under any means necessary. Much like Backpage itself for allowing these ads for sexual slavery to continue.
Bill Would Make Prostitution Advertisements a Crime:
Texas State Representative Jose Manuel Lozano recently introduced a bill to the Texas legislature that would make it a crime to buy advertising for prostitution. He nicknamed it the Backpage bill since it’s mostly focused on the always dubious Backpage.com.
In a hearing before the House Criminal Jurisprudence Committee, Lozano used his iPad to demonstrate the current advertising on Backpage.com. He read an ad offering the services of a “young, hot, freaky, addicting, petite young Latina.”
His proposal would make it a felony to buy such advertising and might press Backpage.com to get out of the business.
I get the feeling the young Latina in question was not advertising her services as a math tutor.
While admire Representative Lozano’s intentions so far all state laws designed to curtail sex trafficking on Backpage have failed under judicial challenge. I haven’t heard much about Rep. Lozano’s bill but I don’t have much hope for it. While I look forward to a day when Backpage no longer deals in human trafficking I have yet to hear of any legislation that has the magic words that would allow it to survive challenge. Unfortunately I doubt this bill has it either.
Silvio Raul Illescas
Elmsford man charged in 2 hotel rapes:
Silvio Raul Illescas, of Elmsford, charged in 3rd hotel rape:
This story is a month old so I apologize for not bringing it to you sooner however I just received it myself.
Anyway, 40-year-old Silvio Raul Illescas was arrested early in March for allegedly raping three escorts that he found off of Backpage in Westchester County, New York. He is accused of taping two of the women in Greenburgh and one in Tarrytown. Police say that he raped at least one of the women at knifepoint cutting her. She sustained minor injuries as far as the knife goes. Investigators are also said to be looking at Illescas in other possible rapes as well.
I think that a lot of these scumbags pick prostitutes as their target not only because of the ease of access to them online but also they think that not only will they not report it but if they do that police won’t believe them. Thankfully it seems today that police do care. There was a time that this was not the case.
You know who doesn’t care? Backpage of course. They still go on waving the First Amendment in everybody’s face while women are being raped and killed through their website. Meanwhile they’re taking their blood money all the way to the bank without fear of any kind of legal reprisal. It’s sad that this is the world we live in and very few people seem to actually care about it.
Alberto Prece Palmer
Woodbury Man Arrested as Suspect in Brittany Clardy Murder Case:
Man arrested in death of St. Paul teen found in towed car was wanted in violent attacks:
18-year-old Brittany Clardy of St. Paul, Minnesota was reported missing on February 11th. Her body was found on February 21st inside of a car that had been towed from a Brooklyn Park apartment complex to a police impound lot. Investigators say that she was working as a prostitute that had been advertised on Backpage. Police now believe that they have captured her killer.
In March police arrested 23-year-old Alberto Prece Palmer who was staying at a residence in Woodbury, MN. Palmer also has warrants out for his arrest in Georgia where he had attacked other prostitutes from Backpage.
Alberto Prece Palmer, 23, is accused of putting the woman in a closet and raping and beating her. He then allegedly bound and gagged her, wrapped her in blankets and put her in a plastic storage container in her car. She reportedly escaped hours later, said Chamblee, Ga., police Sgt. Ernesto Ford.
So not only does Backpage have their hands in all sorts of sex trafficking of women and children but they also have their hand in a number of murders. Sadly Ms. Clardy is far from the first women to advertise on Backpage to be murdered. Yet Backpage will still insist that it’s their First Amendment right to not only advertise these women but to make a nice little profit off of them as well. It doesn’t matter how many children have been sold for sex, how many girls and women have been raped or how many have been killed. For Backpage it’s all about their bottom line. Apparently the First Amendment rights of Backpage are infinitely more important than the lives of the women and children that are advertised on their site. Again not enough people are outraged about Backpage and they should. I guess ‘Backpage Killer’ doesn’t have the same punch or alliteration as ‘Craigslist Killer’ for these stories to be national headlines.
2 women post $10K bail on new Oxford massage parlor charges:
This is an article from the Worcester Telegram about Lanyun Ma, 42, and Wei Ma, 22, who were both charged with human trafficking while running a backpage advertised massage parlor in Oxford, Mass. However instead of focusing on the horrors of human sex trafficking the article focused more on the matters of the local city council.
Foreign sex workers are often brought in illegally from other countries in horrid conditions and are forced to work of their ‘debt’ by being forced to sexually pleasure any degenerate who can come up with $60 and a tip. Often they are basically kept prisoner, forced to live in the same room they’re violated in and are often held against their will or have their families back home threatened with violence.
Instead of focusing on that the article instead focused on the licensing and zoning of massage parlors in the Oxford area.
This is why hardly anyone gives a crap about sex trafficking in this country. While countless women and children are being sold and violated people in this country are more concerned about what is it doing to their property values.
Police Arrest Alleged Prostitution Ringleader:
Des Moines police arrest alleged ringleader of prostitution ring:
Police in Des Moines, Iowa have arrested 25-year-old Maria Jansen for allegedly running a prostitution ring on the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com.
As I’m sure you can guess the twist in this story is that police have arrested an alleged female trafficker. It’s a rare occurrence on this site but it dies happen. While female traffickers may be a different stripe of pimp we should refer to them as pimps and not the more romanticized term of madam. They still use similar tactics that are employed by their male counterparts…
“We identified a person who preys on people who are at a bad time in their life,” said Sgt. Chris Scott. “It might be financial issues, it could be other issues and they’re on the edge.”
Just like male pimps female pimps will take advantage of someone’s downfall to sell them into sexual slavery.
Jansen is looking at 15 years behind bars if convicted. Unfortunately due to her gender she would probably serve even less time than the males of her criminal ilk do.
Meanwhile Backpage just continues to count their money they make off of sexual slavery.
Silver Spring Man Charged With Sexual Assault:
Man impersonating police officer sexually assaults prostitute in Silver Spring:
Police in Silver Spring, Maryland have arrested 21-year-old Nicholas Morales-Macedo and charged him with allegedly raping a prostitute he got off of the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com.
Police say that after the woman arrived at Morales-Macedo’s home he produced a rifle and told his victim that he was a Montgomery County police officer. He then ‘made her perform a sex act’ as the article says but let’s call it what it is, rape.
Morales-Macedo is being held on $2M bail. You can’t tell me this is a simple assault with that kind of bond.
I would hazard a guess that this probably wasn’t his first rape rodeo. Not only are rapes severely under-reported I would imagine that not a lot of prostitutes in his victim’s condition would go to the police.
And once again we have the vaunted defenders of free speech at Backpage facilitating yet another rape through their adult section, only this time no money was exchanged.
James Brown (Obviously not THE James Brown)
Backpage.com Murder Case Moves to Macomb County:
Wayne County, Michigan, which includes Detroit, has dropped all their charges against James Brown. Brown is believed to be involved with the murders of Demesha Hunt, Renisha Landers, Natasha Curtis and Vernithea McCrary. Three of the women are believed to be prostitutes that were advertising on the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com.
With Wayne County dropping the charges, charges have been filed by nearby Macomb County. Previously investigators said that it was unknown where the murders actually took place. With these new charges being filed I would hazard a guess that they believe they took place in Macomb County.
I guess if Liz McDougall was quoted for this article she’d probably say how great it was that Backpage was able to help catch a killer.
UPDATE 12/2/2012: Brown’s attorney entered a plea of not guilty on his client’s behalf.
Chad Lee Lindley
Human trafficking charge filed against Fargo man accused of hiring prostitutes on Craigslist:
40-year-old Chad Lee Lindley of Fargo, North Dakota is looking at a 20 year stretch in prison on human trafficking charges. Police say that he was an aspiring pimp advertising for new recruits on craigslist…
“I do have job openings that will provide the fun, provide the case, and provide the lifestyle that you’ll love,”
“Gorgeous young women between the ages of 18 to 40 years old ready to make up to $10,000 or more a week,”
“Must be experienced or know what this job is, professional, seductive, passionate and most of all sexy.”
Now you should know by now that I want to eliminate all forms of human trafficking especially those that are proliferating on craigslist and backpage however 20 years for this schmo is too extreme. Granted he’s a wanna be pimp assbag but as far as I could tell he never actually had any women working for him.
The problem is he’s being made an example. In 2009 North Dakota passed a law that specifically targeted human trafficking. This is the first time it’s being used in the Fargo area. While I most certainly agree that examples should me made out of traffickers this guy isn’t who you want as the poster boy for enforcing trafficking laws. You want the guy who has actually trafficked women and children and sold and traded them as sex slaves. You want the guy who has used violence and intimidation to keep their victims in line. This guy is just Henry Winkler in Night Shift.
Don’t get me wrong, the guy should be charged but any talk of 20 years when traffickers much more deadly than him get less than half of that is laughable.
